This father and son team are true artists. It's nice to know that there are people like them that take pride and passion for their trade. I've had the pleasure of watching them turn trash tables into works of art. If you have a table you need refurbished. Antique, or new style, these are the guys you want putting their hand on it!

And people wonder why Valley tables play so bad. I know they're not Diamonds, but most so called table mechanics can sure screw them up!!

Nothing wrong with a Valley if it is set up correctly. Great work, thanks for the videos!

I don't disagree, I've worked on them for over 40 years. The main problem is, because they're easy to work on, and because they're mostly in bars, everyone that works on them seems to take them for granted, because they don't really consider them important enough pool tables to really care about how they play when they're finished working on them, and therefore, if they don't care about them, why should anyone else!!!

Is there any way to extend the slate in the pocket to make the shelf deeper?

    Hello,
I am curious to know the effects of having a gap in the bottom of the rail and the slate.
I just got a table installed and two of the sides have this issue.
I notice that compared to the other sides, the ones with this gap make a much louder noise. While the rebound is okay (ish), I'm mostly concerned about how big of an issue this is if there are gaps as mentioned in the video.

If the rails are gaped to the slate, then the nose height is higher, and those rails will play slow compared to the other rails.

I just had a valley pool table installed in my home, and the slate is too high. The rails have to be pushed down in order to line up the bolts. Then when you tighten the rail bolts to 65 in lbs the rail nose height is too low. I obviously have to take the slate out and figure out why its sitting high. But before i do, i was hoping to get some advice as to what i should be looking for? Or, what possible solutions you might have? Simonis 860 felt installed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The slate has nothing to do with the rail nose height because the rails are not attached to the slate. Check to see if the cloth on the rails is wrapped around the top and bottom back side of the rails first. If you're having problems lining the rail bolts up because the rails are to high, then yes, the slate is sitting to high in the cabinet, second, has the slate had all the glue build up scraped off? Watch my video, I show how to figure out how to set the slate depth inside the cabinet before installing it. What nose height are you expecting the rails to be at?
