I just recently found your program when you followed the Trans line from Kalgoorlie. Watching the fit out of the Oka was so interesting. What a great couple you are.
Absolutely loved this epidode! This is what overlanding is about, going through the unbeaten path. Although you get a lot of heat in the coments about the highly sophisticated gate in my view you did the best you could according to your knowledge at that time and that is ok, next time I am sure you will do better now that you know.. Also for the ecologists terrorising your comments that would rather see us humans living only in fenced 15 mins cities with special permits to get out, Thank God for people like Karstan and Maxine showing us how good it feels being conected with nature.
Nothing better than a dirt road with a bit of mud to have some fun. Just did the Darling River run and signed my name on the Tilpa pub wall. Tried to find your names but had no hope in amongst the thousands of people who have done the same thing.
Hahahahahq love it. You guys out here calling your truck a car and people out here calling their utes trucks 😂😂😂 Super pumped with the way you have come back with the travel vids.
Did that track this time last year south to north and were eagerly waiting for your reaction hitting that ragged shaley rock from Haig. Took us so long between the state of the track and the gates 😂
G'day guys, A great video, I thoroughly enjoyed watching that. Q. Over all the time I've been following you guys, I've never noticed your his and hers nose rings. 🤔 So, thanks for taking me along on another adventure ✌️ Peace from Melbourne/Pakenham.
GDay!!! Glad you enjoyed the ep!!! That’s what we like to hear… as for your question. I (Max) have had my nose ring for years and Karstan recently got his done in Thailand on a rainy day when we were bored 😂
Yesss... totally loved this. just wondering.. for people overseas could you pop a little map in the corner every now and then in your video?.. as you go along...to remind people in , say Alaska, where 'Cocklebiddy' is. (People have no idea how huge Australia is). I'm an Aussie but while watching Haig track I was thinking..."Where the hell are we?".. Also... try "'Surf" paints, fab acrylic pencils that will draw on anything...wood, stone... paper. I am sure "Surf" paints would give you a few packets.... good old Aussie technology.."Surf" paints for drawing on surf boards originally, now used by artists (moi).
It is a exceptional year for the rangelands and the red centre . East of Meekathara has had a 12 months season of wet . Prenti station and Carnegy station . There is some big salt lakes out there and they are deep black mud , not a place to take a chance .
Hey mate, as a retired farmer over the ditch here, we used to call those gates, "Taranaki" gates. The way you've left it, will take a Brahman, or Braford, a gentle nudge, and bingo, a few $100k worth of stock will disappear over the horizon. Sorry mate, it's not a laughing matter. My suggestion would be to contact the station owner/manager asap. He or she will fly out in their Robbie chopper and sort it. I guess by now, the job's done. Great episode guys. Thanks for sharing.
Such beautiful children and Maxine has all the Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Maxine ❤Beautifully done The Oka was once a Cummins what is the engine you’re travelling with? The standard engine was a Cummins ISBe5 (Euro 5) 4.5-litre, four-cylinder, common-rail-injection, available in several stages of tune from Cummins, but OKA opted for the 136kW/700Nm setting..
Some real tossers here in the comments........, anyways, moving along. You crazy lot have fun, and you do what you need to do, keep it real. Thanks for the share 🇿🇦🤙👍
30:23 and also are we having enough track closures because people are not staying on the track because the greens are getting sick of us destroying the bush meaning four-wheel drivers so stay on the track is a good idea
Hey folks, it just shows how easy it'd be to strike a wet patch out in the desert and get stuck in some super remote location for a month, (many have). Lots of "mansplaining" this episode Karstan, that can lead to revolt from the females, and you should be smart enough to remember you are outnumbered in the "OKA cosmos". Great adventures!
After growing up on a farm for part of my childhood with lots of those tricky gates it was definitely amusing to see how tricky it actually seems for those unfamiliar. Great episode guys!
I work for the Railways I go Out that way From Time to time its not a bad track few rocks about half way has its good spots and bad spots always drive to conditions 13-14 gates I only sit on 25 to 30 ks per hr
I took a shortcut thru cental australia once,so many enu's and kankaroo's ,all hanging out on the road.I had to have wife walking in front of car chasing them off the road..
Karstan, kangaroo foot print, as they jump, not camel that's for sure, sorry to say, Next time going west, I will follow your foot print, looks fantastic
Haig, like all the rail camps no longer exists. Memories of 1978. Elvis Presley died. Change, I hate it. It's a portent of what will happen to all of us when its our time. Food for the worms. Had to run a rail patrol down the track in our Section car to Haig. Where were the Haig crew? AWOl on the Turps, I guess. Used the takeoff to remove our vehicle from the track otherwise the approaching Rattler (Goods Train) would mow us down. We lit a fire and cooked steak, eggs and tomatos on our shovels over the coals, washed down with a cup of tea. The Rattler crew gave us a toot as they roared past. Ran our vehicle back on the track and continued the Patrol to Haig or Hag as we called it.
For over 60000yrs men, women and children pissed all over the soil, the soil remained fertile. After 1788, Fertilizers, hoofed animals, European infrastructure, poor land management etc contaminated the soil. "Disposable bags" contaminate the soil. Also Urine is actually good for soil in small doses because of high Nitrogen and other nutrients.
Neither of you were even close with that gate. Look at your footage and go and fix it. That is exactly why tracks are closed. Camel tracks ? Seriously ?

Tear up the track .. we did our best to avoid the flooded roads ( that went for 400m ) we missed one side track visible by drone but not when we were driving .. If anyone truly wanted to save tracks they would stay at home !! We do our best to reduce damage .. the top of this track was slippery and not deep so it was not damaged but required momentum so we did it. Get stuck .. thanks for your concern though
Both of you should understand that gate is call a cocky gate, and you did not understand of doing the stick trick,as Australian you both fail the test,Please learn as a lot of tracks in Australian are being lost and locked up because of travels not doing the right thing, love your video, once again don’t make green mistakes.
Seriously? You are starting to come across as pretentious knobs. We travel places like this and have done so for years. Everyone likes a bit of fun but you've ruined water sources for native animals, shown a lack of courtesy for unspoken rules of the bush and displayed a lack of respect for the environment.... and these are the reasons why access to our beautiful country is shut off! No disrespect meant, just how we see it. Travel and education does not need to be about the drama. Keep your little family safe out there.
I gave you a thumbs down. Because you show more of yourselves, than the road and area you are travelling through. Sorry, but I am more interested in where you travel through.
Bummer to have lost you as a watcher .. we show our lives and locations .. I’m sure another TH-camr will drive the track for you to watch in the future .
You need to go back and do the gate properly.. as a farmer id be so pissed off to see someone do that to my gate. That's incorrect and you need to study how to do it properly the stick is meant to go around the upright log and pull it back to you then put it in the ring . If you don't know what you are doing then study it before you take it off. It's actually so pathetic the way you left it mate .. it's so incorrect and if those animals get out that's on you. It's called a cocky gate latch. Google it mate
