Well done guys, your doing great. I seen your kombi in Newcastle. I've just came back from Mt dare and the Simpson via the madigan line. Enjoy your journeys Dave My wife just told me karstan you bid for us on a house in Stanley Street when you were an agent. Wow small world Again enjoy yourselves we lived in Alice for 3 years it's great
Great video. We were directed to this track when travelling from Old Andado after travelling from Alice via Santa Teresa. We thoroughly enjoyed it and was amazed at the Finke River “forest”. We stopped at Old Andado for a trip to the Mac Clark Conservation Park - again just amazing. When we returned to our camper trailer we were unable to access it until after sundown as the whole structure was covered in Bull ants. We were fortunate to see camels walking along along the sand dunes. We experienced the worst bulldust north of Old Andado we’re it was Series 80 LandCruiser wheel height. Thanks for sharing and safe travels.
Live the videos guys only just found your channel and this is the first one I watched. We are travelling Aus now and are about to head up to flinders ranges and do Oodnadatta now thinking might do Binns as well we are in a ranger with a 15ft off-road van

Loved seeing how excited you guys were. If you get the chance, crossing the Simpson is a must do (probably need 4x4 for that). Every one of the 1100 sand dunes and swales is unique.
We just did this track from Saint Teresa to Mt Dare with a Ranger and Opus 15 in tow. We did it pretty easy but I’m not sure why you would do it in a 2wd with a baby. What if something went wrong?? I admit the adrenaline was rushing with some parts and the scenery near Mt dare was amazing. Be carful out there as we had to pull some people out of the finke George national park that we’re stuck for over 2 hours in a new Everest that thought by putting it in sand mode it would just drive through sand 😱 not letting tyres down and prepared to spend a few nights in the desert with little water and no food. Loved it but just be carful
So guys I have only just found your Chanel thanks to Max & Ocy. I've just binged watched all of it from the start. Great fun to see stuff from the other side of the world. I drive a 79 kombi so I feel your pain. Keep going guys envy and greeting from Ireland.
Nice to see this track and Old Andado 30 years after we travelled the track (opposite direction) with out three children (12,10,6 at that time). We had the privilege of spending the night with Molly and having dinner around the table with her. Precious. Looks just how it was then - a beautiful memory. Apart from Molly, no other travellers were there. Wonderful. The Simpson Desert is just so beautiful. We made it to Dalhousie Hot Springs after Mt Dare - and again no one was there. I suspect its a lot busier 30 years later :((.

Premature celebration!!! You're only half way there! Binns track to Alice is the start. After Alice it goes all the way to Timber Creek. Well worth the effort. The camps in Gregory Nat Park are terrific, and there is still a lot to see and enjoy along the way. That bulldust out of Mt Dare has to be seen to be believed. Been through it twice now. Not eager for a third. Loved our trek along the Binns.

Hi guys. I have run opal in my Suzuki DR650, and Kawasaki 1000GTR (motorcycles) with no issue. The kombi will have no trouble digesting opal. Dont be put off by forums and nay sayers, Opal was introduced to assist in the reduction of petrol sniffing. p.s. Thanks for giving me a look at my home state and home town of Alice🙂
You crazy pair of buggers!! But such a breath of fresh air after all the ''have to have'' 4wd BS. I'm jealous but I did see much of Aust in 2wd utes, wagons; and roadtrains carrying live stock . My husband is a Binns. No idea if there is any connection to Bill, but I feel like we should do this journey. 2:51 Maaaate...you had an *empty* Jerry can?
For your information, you can use Opal in an unleaded car. Opal fuel is a low-aromatic unleaded fuel that doesn't contain the properties that create a high when sniffed. Opal low-aromatic fuel was developed after BP received a letter in 2002 from a concerned person in an impacted community, asking if BP could do anything to help tackle petrol sniffing.
Truly impressed with where a Combi can take you. I would like to know what you did to it apart from the tyres before leaving on this trip. It does sound better than the average Combi and appears to have better suspension. Not sure what those ratchet straps are doing though. BTW Opal will be fine in the Combi. On average it is higher than 91 RON. I have used it in my Suzuki which takes 95 RON without any issues.
@@KarstanAndMaxine back in my younger days i drove one for 6 months as a relief vehicle i didn't get bogged like some other cars i had see you later Ron

Did this track last week. Must have just missed you guys! We towed our 23 feet offroad van through this. Dropped the tyre pressures and yes great idea to get extra fuel as we Had to tap into our Jerry cans x40 litres fuel. Did you go and check out the Waddi trees?

properties that create a high when sniffed. Opal low-aromatic fuel was developed after BP received a letter in 2002 from a concerned
person in an impacted community, asking if BP could do anything to help tackle petrol sniffing.
Haha yes .. iv filled the tank about a dozen times since .. only down side is the engine pings under low rpm load .. no biggy !
We will try do a walkthrough of the whole Kombi in a week or so !!
Will definitely do a van tour in the coming weeks ! ... yeah we have since ran opal in the van .. worst part was I coul t smell my fuel leak haha
Hi guys good video again i been wanting to ask you was your kombi all red before all the best Ron
Thanks Ron ! Yep it was an old PMG van
@@KarstanAndMaxine back in my younger days i drove one for 6 months as a relief vehicle i didn't get bogged like some other cars i had see you later Ron
Can you tell me what time of year you were here? A Yank from Wyoming here. I was in Oz a few years ago, saving up to go back. Love your adventures! Thanks, and have fun.
Did this track last week. Must have just missed you guys! We towed our 23 feet offroad van through this. Dropped the tyre pressures and yes great idea to get extra fuel as we Had to tap into our Jerry cans x40 litres fuel. Did you go and check out the Waddi trees?
Awesome track ay !! How were the rds? Still smooth ? No missed the trees .. we will see them when we tackle the Simpson tracks 🤙🏼
Well done loved the trip. So did you have to get a extra permit to do the Binns track.
Nope no permits
I am on a push bike...tou guys passed me...
Loved these videos Soo much!!!
Did you guys ever run into any strange/scary people along your travels?
Hi all we are looking at dythis truck and I’m wondering what fuel you took to make it there ? As we don’t have a long range tank
I’ve owned two kombis over the years, awesome go anywhere machines….. terrible in head and cross winds though…(well mine were)
Haha yeah the winds smashes us .. since upgrading the shocks it’s a lot better !
