Did you consider having the aluminum sheet go under the cladding instead? So water will always run over the overlap? Just got a caravan too myself that I'm looking at renovating
littlejohn2010 yep but the old cladding was too badly damaged and when cut makes a rippled edge , This was against all rules I follow in the building industry, but it’s all sealed and works fine
Piazzawoodworks thanks for the reply! I just bought a caravan and your videos inspired me. I got six weeks to finish it since we are in a lockdown (Melbourne 😂)
Hi...that "patch" near the window there...how do you intend to repair that btw??...im searching vids on welding as i need a repair on my caravan where someone mistakenly put in an "outside light"which is currently covered over with plastic and silicone...looks ugly...think a propper welded patch would look much better...anyway...let me know what you think...thanks.😀
@@PiazzaWoodWorks ...ok ...yep...im prepared to pay for it...as im not a welder myself...thanks for the tip...😊 Although...i ve just seen a few ideas...for eg...cut out a patch...silicone...pop rivet...😕
@@katherinegreen9874 you misunderstood my comment, no one will aluminium weld material that thin. I don’t know what van u have or the status of ur exterior, but we were lucky enough to be repainting ours and I made the patch almost invisible, if u watch my finished video you will see my point, Best of luck to you
Love it. Did you cut the front and rear original cladding adding too or just go over it?. Also where did you get the aluminium sheets from. What's the thickness of it also?
Looks like it's coming along nicely.. keep us updated and thx for sharing..
Nice Job. Think I'll do the same.

Are you going to keep the van or sell it?

If you can find someone who will weld 0.8mm thick caravan panels then pay them their weight in gold 😂
