      Nah.... some of these dudes are busts. They are ranked because scouting said they were better than others. They consider themselves better as well, that's why these guys were able to get scholarships to big programs. That's life. He was a great team guy, he had some occasional nice plays. I can only think of two game changing plays, he had a big catch verse Michigan state and his catch verse ND was clutch. But I never saw speed, route running, he never wowed anyone. I wish him the best but if he think he had problems getting the ball with McCord, good luck with Penn State s QB.

    • @omgitsfriday
      @omgitsfriday 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolute head scratching negligence by OSU coaching staff with how they misused J-Mo. He had a few drops early in the year and they just barely used him for no reason, despite being the most explosive receiver in that whole room (watch the 2020 Clemson game when they finally used him). Pissed me off so much, glad he got to ball out for Bama.

    • @omgitsfriday

    • @PFlaw317
      @PFlaw317 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@omgitsfriday Jameson Williams was kind of a victim of the shortened pandemic season like many other guys. I feel like if they played a full schedule, Fields definitely would have targeted jamo more & the offensive braintrust would have been confident in featuring his speed more. But with the schedule so inconsistent at the time (games getting canceled, not knowing if they were going to play in any given week), Brian Hartline & Ryan Day went with their proven stars in Olave & Wilson. With that said, they STILL should have given Williams more targets in that 2020 year. But even if Ohio State did more for Jameson, he still wouldn't have had a year like he did down South..just too much talent in Columbus..so that was a great move for Williams. We're talking about 4 first round picks in that room in Columbus, who do you piss off from that standpoint? It was probably the right move for both parties..what sucked for Ohio State was they only got one year out of JSN due to injury. If JSN is playing alongside Marvin Harrison & CJ Stound in 2022 vs Michigan & or Georgia..that's probably a Natty for the Buckeyes

    Flowe isn't a bust but poorly evaluated. In HS, he struggled to get off of blocks, not good in coverage or space, inconsistent in his run fits, low IQ, and average combine testing. Most of his highlights were him blitzing untouched. Physical tackler but very overrated

    Fleming isn't on Bust Watch. Dude has already Busted its painfully obvious. Expectations were sky high for this dude, I'm pretty sure ESPN had him as the #1 player overall. He has been terrible, he has dealt with injuries but he's been healthy the past 2 years and he's gradually gotten worse. He is a willing run blocker though, ill give him that. Maybe he can carve out a special teams role at the next level he has great size. It just sucks to see one of the most dominant high school players I've ever seen go out like this. Every year everyone is like " This is the year he finally puts it together and has that breakout" but it became obvious this year, what he was. With all the talent in that room at OSU he was going to be out of the rotation completely in 2024 he knew it and bailed. I hope he can somehow turn it around though.

    • @dylancollins6578
      @dylancollins6578 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Exactly. I don’t think he ever showed anything that would suggest #1 wide receiver in any class

    • @PFlaw317
      @PFlaw317 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Lol going out like how? You're making it seem like he's washing out of College Football like Arik Gilbert. Julian is most likely about to be a top 2 WR option on a playoff contender in Penn State. I'm an Ohio State fan & like Fleming..he's overcome some adversity, but that wasn't the greatest HS evaluation (there were a lot of off-evals for the 2020 & 2021 classes due to the pandemic). Scouts were enamored with Fleming's physical measurables, but he wasn't a polished WR coming out HS. His team utilized & featured an old school, dominant rushing attack to win games and it was against low level competition in PA. And it's not like he was routinely shining versus top flight corners at national camps either. Want to talk about a dominant HS WR? Look no further than Jaxon Smith-Njigba's record setting numbers in the top level of Texas football. JSN was the real #1 WR of the 2020 class. Julian Fleming is a top 10 WR from that group, but def not top 3.
      Two major things worked against Fleming in Columbus..primarily serious injuries, but also simply being in a room with elite 1st round talent. The latter worked against others as well like Mookie Cooper (transferred to Missouri), Gee Scott (moved to TE), Jayden Ballard (4 year guy who has been recruited over), essentially the entire 2022 WR class (although the book isn't closed on Kyion Grayes yet imo) and even Emeka Egbuka to a lesser extent. Mek came in as the #1 WR in the country..but he steps in the room as a FR and immediately there's *Garrett Wilson* (#10 Overall Draft Pick), *Chris Olave* (#11 Overall Draft Pick), *JSN* (#20 Overall Draft Pick off just one year of college film), and his 2021 classmate happened to be Biletnikoff Winner and future top 5 overall pick *Marvin Harrison* Jr. Now Egbuka has been great for the Buckeyes, but he has played with too much talent to ever be THE guy at Ohio State, this upcoming season may be his first where he really gets that opportunity & recognition as OSU's #1 WR option.
      So even when healthy, Julian Fleming was not going to be one of the feature guys at Ohio State..and he didn't warrant it imo. He's a very good blocker, but for all of his plus traits, I expected him to be a little more physical, dynamic as a route runner & with the ball in his hands. He's big, strong & fast. But we never saw him take a short slant, break a few tackles and house it for a 50 yard TD for example..didn't see much of him utilizing his size & vertical to high point balls over defenders. Not much separation against man coverage as well. Although it's wild how Fleming broke open multiple times in Ann Arbor for would be big plays but Kyle McCord didn't look his way (smh!).
      Even with all that said, Fleming had his moments at Ohio State. Came up big as a young pup in the 2020 B1G 10 Championship game, played well in the Rose bowl, against Georgia in the playoffs and perhaps his biggest play as a Buckeye in snagging that 4th down catch & conversion in South Bend on the game winning drive. Fleming best compares to former OSU WR Austin Mack imo. Solid, but not spectacular, conference wideouts & fringe NFL guys. So yeah, he didn't live up to the #1 ranking, but theirs levels to the bust thing, and I would quite put Fleming in the same category is other guys who didn't even have real playing careers in college. I'm definitely rooting for Julian at State College, just not when the Buckeyes come to town!

    I hate how bad people are at evaluating runningbacks when it's one of the easiest positions to gauge success at the next level. It's so obvious people helmet watch instead of doing any actual evaluation on these guys because you hear the same lazy excuses for why they didn't succeed every time: "They were questionable in the receiving game" and "size" which are such overrated traits when you look at runningbacks. You can train a runningback to catch and runningbacks have succeeded at a wide range of sizes even at the professional level. Just say you didn't watch them, it's not that big of a deal lol.
