Hello, everyone! I hope that you all are well. I wanted to share with you my latest piece of MLP fan music. This one is inspired by another one of Sparkytopia's lovely fan artworks. For this piece, I wanted to invent some kind of "scene" or story based off of the artwork, and use that as the inspiration for a piece of music. Enter "Finger Paints' Art Festival" - an opportunity for every pony express their inner creativity! I like to imagine that the ponies have an actual functioning society beyond that which is seen in the movies, and that this is the music that would exist in their society. This particular thus servers as a "theme song" that the ponies would hear during this art festival. In effect, I am inventing a musical tradition that reflects the kinds of music our favorite ponies would be playing as they go about their lives. This is an extension of one of my favorite ideas - that of "musical worldbuilding." The way that music can be used to immerse the audience into the world of a story and its characters, is something that I find incredibly fascinating. This idea heavily influences the way that I write my music. Many of you can probably tell by now that my music is not limited just to Western orchestral instruments. I use many uncommon combinations of instruments, incorporating influences from a variety of musical cultures. This helps to create a distinctive sonic "palette" that can give a fictitious world its own flair. In the case of this piece, I did this will still trying to maintain the playful and cheery feel of the music that Mark Watters originally composed for MLP. Thank you for listening to this music. I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did making it. If you read this far, please comment a 🪇 emoji and write about what other activities you think the ponies might participate in!
