The album cover for Disraeli Gears was by Martin Sharp, who also wrote the lyrics for “Tales Of Brave Ulysses” 👍

I wish Kraftwerk, or whoever/whatever is blocking it, would permit the reissue of the first 2 albums, the ones with the traffic cone covers. Yes, I know they were a v different band back then, but it was good and original music. Preferably, of course, remastered & extended :)

Teri Garr was Gene Hackman's on-again/off-again girlfriend in Coppola's underrated classic "The Conversation"

I love Nirvana Unplugged I play it more than Nevermind. I'm not bothered about how unplugged it was or wasn't (sometimes it's mentioned that the Bowie song was obviously electric sounding) I like the stripped back sound and the vocals.

I used to have a pair of Motorhead flipflops. Glad to report they were reassuringly LOUD.

I bought a Belle & Sebastian tea towel during their American tour 20 years ago.

Rock reviewers were not cruel and heartless. They were just reactionary and usually wrong. No one with any self-awareness wants to be the fool who says guitar groups are finished in 1962 or kids will never like this electronic music in 1974. The art always outlives its critics. You see it in every artform. From Whistler to Ramones to horror films and comic books. The critics are myopic. There was probably someone in the Lascaux caves pompously pronouncing that its production was "trite and will never be comparable to Caveman Plog's bone-clacking incantation of the spirit dead" or something.
What you actually see in those Kraftwerk reviews is the fear of the critic/the know-it-all being irrelevant, which of course many of us will grow to be.

My favourite reviewers were Nick Kent and Charles Shaar Murray.

Machine music is all around us, currently being quantized to death. Kraftwerk were prophetic

I was more bothered that David pronounces (Phil) Ochs in passing here as "ox"whereas Phil & music archivist brother Michael both pronounce it "oaks"

The inclusion of Don Estelle and Windsor Davies in this made for the best laugh of the day! More of such pls! We need constant reminders of just how absurd the entertainment industry is. ;-)
