MMT - Excellent ride along 680. Years ago, 1997 to be exact, I took a road trip from Worthington, MN down to Omaha for fun. What was interesting is that if you drive 29 south to 680, the Omaha area feels like Sioux Falls, until you round the corner on 680 and then BOOM before you know it you have 8 lanes and plenty of traffic and then you realize, Omaha is much bigger than expected.

If you notice the exit sign for I-29 North, there was room for an I-680 shield (This was why I asked in a prior video if I-29 and I-880 were going to be covered in a prior video).

Ah interesting. Yeah I didn't even notice that.

It's 880 in lowa after the i29 junction going north

i think that stretch used to be 680 until a few years ago when it changed to 880 for some reason

@@efil4kizum 680 in Iowa and Nebraska combined was too many miles long to keep the 680 designations and the Iowa dot redesignated it to 880.

That’s because I-880 is, in fact, I-680, and is part of the full loop (reminder that the first digit being even means that it meets up with the interstate of the last two digits twice)

At one point 680 was signed as 280 in the late 60's to early 70's

I wonder why they changed it to 680?

@@ddki9094 it had something to do with routing numbers and also the fact there was a bypass that was planned to be built that never made it through the drawing board therefore making the 280 Designation useless

@@ddki9094 I-280 was signed in the Quad Cities, so to avoid the duplication of the 280 number in Iowa, they switched to the 680 number for the Omaha area.

Each state has nine three digit interstates associated with a parent mineline interstate and I did not know that 680 was originally 280

14:23 i absolutely HATE that double bump with a passion ... maybe they will fix it in 5 years lmao

Dude, you seriously have to get that knocking noise on your car looked at. I don't know if tyres, CV joints or whatever
But in every vlog it drives me crazy. Lol
    Cheers mate 👍

I thought the knocking noise was related to the road?

i think it is mostly the broken sub-par roads around these parts, unless it also appears in other vids that have known buttery-smooth roads? then its the vehicle ... my truck does the same darn thing over every section of concrete ... if only they made the roads here like they do in the Greater Kansas City area that are much nicer

@@MileageMikeTravels yes, its very bad road surfacing around here... i just listened to some of your recent travels through Minneapolis area and i definitely do not hear the knocking and clunking as much... meaning Minnesota takes much better care of road maintenance than they do here... both cities are similar to temperature changes and road salt usage so IDK
