Just watched the movie at my uni and was able to have a conversation with Ben Young because he was there. Amazing person, really good movie, some scenes were rlly scary but because it made me feel scared it made it a good film
It's not, Ben Young had an interview at our uni infront of us, it was more "quincidentally" based off a true story lmao, he wrote the film before knowing about the "true events" he actually got inspired to make this film from reading one of his mothers books!
@@TGB_Filmyou don’t live to be an adult in Australia and have never heard about the Birnies. Especially if you’re writing a movie about a crime in the same small city, the same decade, the same situation, even showing shots of Gnangara forest where some of their victims were buried.

Just saw this move on Hulu and I have to say this movie is f***** up....and I mean that in a good way. Sad to find out this is a true story. But thumbs up to the director he did a good job the ending had me at the edge of my sit.
This film made me feel sick and I am normally quite comfortable watching films with strong themes etc. It's just bloody terrible and doesn't let up till the end. I thought the entire series of killings by the Bernies was going to unfold so I almost turned it off early, but fortunately the plot has been altered and it ends sooner than you expect. It's a well made film, but if you're thinking of watching it, be warned it's very disturbing. I wouldn't recommend watching simply for that reason.
Im so angry and upset sfter seeing what he did to the dog. I'll never look at that actor the same way again. I question again why we need these kinds of movies.
it would be better if they used to real names of the perpetrators, David and Catherine Birnie. I will watch it but that will annoy me. I would get it if Kate wouldn't want her real name used though.
its legit laughable how hard this film was trying to be snowtown (2011) by justin kurzel. which is far superior exercise in that special kind of darkness reserved only for a handful of films in australian independent cinema

A terrifying reminder that a horror film needs no supernatural elements.

Think of things like this when you think about taking rides from strangers and sneaking out. You should always let someone know where you're going.

Brilliant filmmaking but I am forever changed by it's disturbing imagery and how it made me feel throughout the viewing
