It's Not About Religion?

Last week, we looked at the book of Philippians where we saw a theme of joy and contentment while living a life devoted to following Jesus’ example. This week, we’ll see how Jesus really lived in contrast with the popular phrase, “It’s not about religion.’
The conversation revolves around the importance of emulating Jesus' qualities, such as selflessness, sacrificial thinking, and putting others' interests first. Pastor Gene also discuss the relationship between faith and works, emphasizing the importance of both faith and works in demonstrating one's faith. Additionally, he critiques the overuse of the phrase 'it's not about religion, it's about relationship' and emphasizes the significance of practicing what one preaches, demonstrating love, kindness, and humility to attract people to the church and demonstrate the authenticity of their faith. Finally, Pastor Gene highlight the importance of purity and authenticity in religion, citing Jesus' example of following religious laws without sinning, and argues that true religion is not only about external actions but rather about internal motives and purity of heart.
