    When I built my last garage, I had several shops behind me to draw from and I also had to my luck a man who was a commercial electrician who was going through a divorce and didn't have a lot of money but just five miles from my place he was the head electrician on a huge shopping center so he ran conduit through out the whole building and anything just whimper and done. He was driving one of those brick nose fords with diesel and I made it a sweet running truck. He was happy and so was I so for a few hundred dollars total, I had state of the art. I will never be that lucky again in life but even a blind squirrel can find a acorn every now and then. Now I know certain songs were meant to near bust the speakers but when working a soft background of sound is very relaxing. I have to mention that Milwaukee has made it where air is getting less and less needed. I sure like the power and time they have on them. I can't hardly wait to see what a whole year of building when you can will transform this place into. I also see you making a shop off in the future

    Nice quick project and to see you're getting settled in your new home in time for winter.

    Solenoid valves get hot and usually have a duty cycle specification. I put a 110v NC automatic ball valve on mine and it works great! More money but much cheaper than accidentally burning down your house.

    I personally like the old school double piston compressors. Way quieter. You can buy them separately from the tank for custom configurations. You can also look for used medical compressors like they use in dentistry. Those are really quiet. They also don’t introduce any contaminates.
    Anyways.. thanks for sharing.. never thought of boxing up the unit..

    The problem with locking tbem into a small box like that, they run hotter due to no air flow. The way most solve that is install a fan in the door. What I found really helps is just spending a couple extra dollars and get a low 1745 rpm motor instead of the loud 3450 rpm motor like that compressor has.
    I just bought a Eastwood direct drive scroll QST 30/60 compressor, 63 db, 100,000 hr pump life, and 12.7 cfm @ 90 psi.

      Well when this one blows up from the excessive heat I will upgrade to a quieter compressor head. It’s been lock up in a box like that for over 5 years with extreme use like HVLP sprayer without issues

    Nice video! I'm new to owning a compressor and have heard you should drain it at least weekly. I think you said no draining, why?

    I've used 1/2" & 3/4" PEX for compressed air at home & in two shops since 2007. My line pressure is 160psi. You'll be fine with the attic heat. My home compressor and PEX lines are in the attic since 2007. It get's 185F up there in the summer. Say whatever they want, I've never had a problem. You'll love this shop upgrade for years to come! I had my 60gal compressor in the basement/garage and it was really great when it would come on in the middle of the night🤣 had it on rubber pads and it was still loud. Got a plastic garden storage shack and insulated it and put it in there outside. Lot more quiet. Pex will work fine. Mine is pex and pvc. Only problem I've seen with pvc is in high volume applications it heats up the pvc and blows up fittings. I've never had that problem tho lol

      @@drewmansmodestmansion1917 dude, the original compressor on it would take forever to build up air and it was loud as hell😂 got a new compressor pump at northern tool and it was a night and day difference! Runs half the time. If I do use mine continuous I have to open the door or the thermal overload on the motor will trip

    How does the compressor get cooling air?

    • @drewmansmodestmansion1917
      @drewmansmodestmansion1917  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is an opening at the back up top as well as a gap at the bottom to allow fresh air in. As the compressor runs it’s constantly drawing in fresh cool air to compress. It’s not perfect but hasn’t caught fire yet

  • @thebreadcolonist

  • @Astinsan
    @Astinsan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pex is fine.. as long as it is in a area that will not get to 180 degrees Fahrenheit your fine. Another thing you can do is put a pressure relief valve in that is at 95-100 psi if you are a wuss.
    Max pressures
    100psi max at 180f
    160 psi at 73f

    • @drewmansmodestmansion1917
      @drewmansmodestmansion1917  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s an air compressor it’s constantly sucking in fresh cool air from outside the enclosure. I have had the compressor is a setup like this for more than 5 years, yeah it probably does run warmer than if it was not in the box but never had any issues with it.

    You could wire the system so that a light is on when the compressor is on which is an even more obvious indicator.

      This was something I thought about after I had finished my first system at the old house only issue was i used 12-2 RX for my switch leg so no neutral out at the switch. Forgot and I did the same thing at the new garage 🤦🏼‍♂️ I have gotten pretty good about remembering to turn it off tho with out the light.

    Do u frequently huddle in the corner where that compressor is taking up ur space. It's a midget compressor for goodness sakes and wouldn't be big enough to even supply enough air to run a plasma cutter. Good Lord.
