The pressed hair, the beautiful gown, the meaningful mannerisms, the expected hand motions, the sealed eyes, the rich low tones, the piercing, yet reserved higher tones, the unmatched voice. This ladies and gentlemen is the legendary, Marie Dionne Warwick! Go head on, D. You’ve done what no other can do, & continues to do it to this day. May God continue to bless you richly for your warm contributions. You my dear, are loved.
I’m literally mesmerized. This is such an emotional performance. The manner in which she moves her hands and sings with her eyes closed demonstrates how she feels about her performance.
So Beautiful! Her voice just takes you to a whole different place. OmG! I'll take some wine and sit back cross my legs and Relax. Love the Beautiful Legendary Dionne. She was so beautiful.❤❤❤
This performance is captivating!!!! Her tone, notes, vocal arrangement, look???!! It just takes me to another place. I've never followed Dionne Warwick, but this performance is OUTSTANDING👍👍👍👍.
This performance is astounding and it made me think of my grandma because she was her favorite singer and she had THIS performance on a BETA tape. #memories man!! ❤️❤️
It is not just the voice (which can't be duplicated), also the gown, as Dionne has informed us how legendary Marlene Dietrich, gave her some advise about fashion.
A wonderful performance here from Dionne in her prime 1970s voice before her Arista recordings and hits. It seems she was all over television back then, talk shows and variety shows and so on. I wonder what particular show this was from and the original airdate. Thank goodness for professional video preservation, as it helps to preserve the legacy of so many talents, this one included. It would be something if she had this vocal quality currently. I think her 1960s and 1970s styles were the best and that continued into the 1980s and 1990s, but there was more rasp and a lower register after that. Her voice really changed in more recent years, but it still has that Dionne sound and she has toured more than most in later years. In an age in which much of the modern music sounds alike, the Dionne Warwick sound was and still is distinguishable amongst all others. That is something after so much time in the music industry.
@@marion71355 Thank you for your response. Are you sure this was from Ed Sullivan? His show, which began in black-and-white in 1948 as "The Toast of the Town," then became the "Ed Sullivan Show," or "shew," as he would say it, and went in color in the late 1960s. However, based on the hair Dionne had in this video and her vocal sound, it appears to maybe have been from the 1973 to 1977 period when she had this type of hairstyle, in which Ed Sullivan would have been off the air for several years. He had passed on in 1974. His show was off the air at least 3 years before that had occurred. I am just making an observation. I was not born yet during the time period in which his show had originally aired, but I do know that Dionne had the longer hair in the 1973 to 1977 period, before switching back to a shorter hairdo in 1978 and keeping variations of that ever since. In addition, sources on the Internet indicate that the original Paul McCartney-Wings version was recorded in October 1972 and released on March 23, 1973, which would have been after the Ed Sullivan Show had ended production. This must have been from a different show, as there were many other music programs on the air at the time. The 1970s were the heyday of the variety show.
She never recorded the song it's a Paul McCarthy hit. Dionne love to do covers during this time of hits she enjoyed. Turned her covers into masterpieces.
Dionne has that type of voice that even if a song doesnt have a chorus will stick in your head. Her voice is the hook.

So very fantastic and beautiful.
Wow, Dionne made every song her own. Always a delight to hear what she does with the most recognizable tunes.
Thank you Dionne, this brings tears of joy to my eyes, what a beautiful arrangement
Like Aretha the 1974-1979 Dionne had best vocal richness and tone in their voices
In 81 she was in absolute mature prime. Low tones but still able to hit the stratosphere and then the power was insane!
brilliance in real life!!! Dionne...
