I hope Kachin become they're own country instead of joining China 😅 They're geography and culture is what makes ASEAN diverse. If they join China, they will be listed as East Asian instead of ASEAN 😭😭

The Kachin state map is actually wrong.It is larger.Burmese dictator ceded part of Kachin land to Sagaing Province.Upper half of Sagaing is Kachin land.Burma even tried to take Hpankant for its jade.There was also territory swap with China and eastern part of Kachin state was given to China and a small part of China was added to Shan state. Also Mogok was in Shan state but ceded to Mandalay for its ruby.
Umm, no. Most of the populated areas in present day Kachin state are historically, & still, Shan settlements. Every major population hub in Kachin state was founded & inhabited by Shan people (British colonialism changed demographics a bit), not ethnic Kachin people. Many parts of Sagaing & Mandalay Regions are also Shan territories.

Entire Ayeyarwady delta area & lower parts of Sittaung river were predominantly Mon communities (with some Kayin communities), but most Mon people were politically oppressed & forcibly driven out during Konbaung era & British Colonial era. Upper parts Sittaung river (especially around Taungoo) always had Mon, Bamar, Shan & Kayin communities. Ruling class in present day Taninthari region were originally (during foundation) Mon & Bamar noblity, population mostly Mon with some Thai, Malay, etc. Original Bamar footprint (before 10th century) extended as downstream as upper Ayeyarwady delta (eg. areas near present day Hinthada) & as upstream as present day Tagaung & Thabeikkyin, BTW even the name "Bagan" is nickname given by Mon people meaning hot/dry place. Many communities of Mon & Shan people disappeared due to British colonialism.
