Crazy to think that in older times, circuits like Monzas oval and nascar in general, you could just straight up leave the race track
And, in the case of Monaco, nearly drown.
Every track back in a deeper past..

It still happens in sprint car racing…those cars can really fly
4:16 The scariest part of the Geoff Bodine crash was listening to the fear from the guys in the booth. Everyone thought he was dead.
And when the narrator said:
This is gonna hurt ☠️
He came out of it with a few broken bones and a concussion and was racing again within a few months, blows my mind. It's the worst looking non-fatal crash I've ever seen
Well, he barely survived probably. He had brain damage and has not been the same since probably. He was already an older guy then in racing age, so he was lucky he lived.
@@ethanweeter2732 Every year you get older the worse the outcomes will be after a major brain injury. I had a massive mid-line brain shift in college in a car accident 20 years later a subarachnoid hemorrhage. If that happened 30 or 40 years later in life, I wouldn't be living a normal life.
@@ethanweeter2732no he didn't he was racing not long after and raced 11 more years in nascar
2:37 "and he hit some debris" *car proceeds to discombobulate*
Almost lost Mario, seriously.
So many things went wrong, ... and yet Mario walked away.
I think it's crazy that it took as long as it has to get Indy drivers to actually get a cockpit that gives them more protection from debris and crashes.
It's a shame catchfences have to be used, but it's great that they do their job.
Geoff Bodine might be the luckiest man to race at Daytona to literally survive being turned into a fireball of debris.
The only thing that maybe saved his life is the fact trucks go about 190 there and have a slightly higher roofline maybe.
@@ethanweeter2732 10 extra mph coulda been the determining factor between life and death
6:03 “feels like Nascar” lmfao very descriptive thank you
2:40 I always wanted to know what that crash was but I didn't know any information on it. I never realized that the car touched the catch fence.
Honourable mention:
Sophia Flörsch crash at Macau in 2018. Amazing how everyone survived the accident.
1:07 Good reactions, and surprisingly good brakes.
i was in the infield when carson short hit the fence last year. just saw a car hit the fence, and its the wildest crash ive seen in person. right in turn 2
0:55 you can see former NBA star Michael Jordan on the other side of the catch fence Dippin haha
Ron Koehler with the video game catch fence glitch.
6:15 that bin is a projectile
Je régale toujours superbe vos vidéos merci ❤👍
I thought this was a game crash compilation after seing the thumbnail
Keep up the bangers bro 💯
Thx!
Neil Bonnet in the 1993 Diehard 500 at Talladega is one that still remember after seeing it live on TV over 20 years later.
Considering Mario's age, even then it's a miracle he walked away. His fitness was through the roof
4:31 DAMN! Those bystanders went from raw to well done in no time 😂
The Jim Booth clip is pretty crazy with it being a decently heavy Ferrari rare sight
6:35 this is the New London-Waterford Speedbowl, not Wall Stadium
This needs a part 2
Ik I said this with your other video that you posted recently but this one could defo have so many more to be added that it could just be a series! Great video tho
2:11
I thought this was a car, not a plane!
2:42 "and he hit some debris" he may have but I'm not sure
There was another crash in front of him, running over debris from it is what lifted the nose. Someone else had a similar wreck at Indy a few years later, want to say it was Sam Hornish.
When i saw "everyone would survive' i knew there would be no 2011 IndyCar World Final where the catchfence had a role in the death of Dan Wheldon
I'm sure there will be another video, because several more were left out, like Bobby Allison at Talladega 1987
Bodines wreck is second worst for me. The first would be Micheal waltrips wreck at Bristol.
Correction Dario’s. Rash happened in 2013
2:37 I don't know how many G Mario Andretti got from that crash, but it must have been very high.
6:08 honestly they were lucky enough things didn't get worse, just looking at how that car went through the fence shows how bad this could've been
Dillon being alive and virtually unscathed after that shunt still amazes me.
i need some more info on pablo perez. what happened to him. as soon as it hit you cannot see him anymore
Underwent surgery on both of his legs and eventually returned to racing, competing in a sports car championship of his country (Argentina) and even raced some races of the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge championship
The cockpit actually doesn’t travel much farther. It’s the thing spinning very quickly going down the track.
The damage is done when hitting the post and not the fence
Ok you tubers...this is how you put together a video..no replays 10 times...good editing bud..
01:50 Radio Man: *OH MY GOD!* 😮😮😮
American dirt speedways often do NOT have a fence of any sort . Cars just leave the track and disapear into the boonies. NOT in front of the spectators however. They also generally do not have pitgates either. That second Sprintcar crash was worse because the wall was NOT continuous because of the opening. As for catch fencing?? Some are about 6 feet high with no cable reinforcement
At the local dirt track where I grew up there is a small river behind the track and sometimes cars would fly off the track and land in the river. They had to put up a wall so they would stop going into the river 😂
At the short track near me in the uk the only thing between spectators and track is an elevation change and some poles with nets attached
As a dirt track racer. I've hit walls and flipped 500ft off the track (That incident very nearly killed me.) I'd 100% rather flip out of the park, then hit a wall. I'm very thankful there was no wall there, if there was it'd be 100% game over.
Bro that geoff bodine crash first of all he got launched into the fence + then he got hit by a car going 120mph. Literally the luckiest man alive
I subscribed to your channel
that ferrari wheelie was insane
1:21 2010 no 2011😅
Dang you're uploading a lot
Figured I would try to
Just to clarify… the crash at “wall stadium” is actually at the New London- Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut. I thought it looked familiar and I realized I was at that race.
God, that one British commentator, with the shredded boce, who yells.
Seeing the 2015 Austin Dillon at Daytona isn person was the most scared I’d been watching racing
Good compilation, but Kenny Bräck also should be here, he survived 214 g's and became person that survived most g's since the introduction of crash violence recording systems when he hit that catchfense on turn 3, it was as intense to watch as Geoff Bodine, believe me.
Every time i see that Bodine wreck, i can't believe he survived.
Tim Jordan wreck was at Waterford speedbowl not at wall stadium..good video tho👍🏼
That’s what I came to the comments for lmao, just to say that
A Ferrari challenge car sponsored by McDonald's. I'm lovin it
I refuse to watch the onboard footage of the Chaz Mostert crash, primarily because of what happened to his leg in the incident.
The fact 4-5 marshals were almost hit also frightens me, being a volunteer flag marshal myself.
Cars are wild, scary things. Always have eyes up track and hard cover.
Which one? His Bathurst crash?
@@non43209 yes, that one
In F1, being a marshal used to be a death trap of sorts.
Richard Petty barrel rolled down the catch fence by the start/finish line at Daytona. I think 7 spectators were hurt and the fence was obliterated
Would a push bumper help?
Mike Conway had some bad luck with the Indianapolis 500. That first bad wreck he had actually put him out for the rest of the 2010 season.
He had another airborne wreck in the 2012 Indy 500 but thankfully was nowhere near as bad as his first one in 2010.
There’s more than that 1987 Dega crash 2009 Dega crash 2010 dega 2013X2Daytona pretty sure there’s also an Indy car crash in the at Indy
Happy new year! 🎉🎉
You used a very bad replay for Austin Dillon crash. The one with the camera from the infield show how extremely hard is the impact. He went from more than 197mph to an absolute stop, this is beyond madness that he walked away without anything.
6:11 i live like 1hr 30mins from this track great facility. Terrifying crash
You'd think there would be more space near the catch fence so no one could get too close.
For part 2: Kyle Larson 2013 Daytona NNS crash, Kenny Brack 2003 Texas IRL crash, Ben Kennedy 2015 Kentucky NCWTS crash, Joey Coulter 2012 Daytona NCWTS, the Robert Wickens 2018 Pocono IndyCar crash, Mikhail Aleshin 2014 California IndyCar crash, Scott Dixon 2017 Indy IndyCar crash, and Ryan Briscoe 2005 Chicagoland IRL crash.
I think i recognised enersons location. Wasn't that the same place Jeff crosnoff lost his life?
I don't understand that Connor Daly crash at Monaco, the guy in front doesn't have a rear wing, surely that's a meatball flag and retirement? Why did the wingless car even defend?
So many questions lol
I thought Formula cars had to have a rear and front wing to race. A big safety issue on those cars because of crashes being more likely to kill than in a heavier stock car with more roll cage and head protection.
It was near the end of the race and the meatball flag was indeed shown to him, he just ignored it, and was defending like crazy even before the incident. He was disqualified after the race finished.
@@Koyomimatic Ahh I see, thanks!
2:15 wow
The government should make people sit very very far from the track
tim jordan was at waterford, I live like 10 mins from the track and saw it in person
Again I've already been told this
@@crazycars81 oh my fault bro I didn't see the comment
@@rustard9649 it's fine
I remember the stafford one... i was there scary stuff.
That Bodine crash is so old it's recorded on papyrus!
Papyrus the company behind nr2003?
No, papyrus the ancient material to write on.@@strike_not_found
Isn’t the fence in Motorsport called the cheese grater? Because of how it shreds the cars up like that! This video was wild I’d say this was a first to watch for me.
MARIO ANDRETTI 🤯
I do not think I would want to drive a sports car at those speeds after seeing that Road America crash. Top speeds at Road America probably barely hit 180 mph even in the sports cars, so that car flipped that far at probably 170-180 mph.
3:38 Geoff bodine?
How come catch fence is any good for a safety? It shreds everthing after an impact. Remember Dan Wheldon died because of it
It’s like alpine skiing nets they don’t help they nearly kill
Forget my corrections I didn't look in the comments. I'm sorry
6:33 is Waterford speed bowl not wall stadium you silly goose, also you should include leo parente’s catchfence flip in a video
Im sorry but the one that says its from Wall Stadium is not Wall stadium
5:16 2013
Read pinned comment.
5:23 is this the crash what end Markus Niemelä racing career?
Yes
Is everyone ok🥺🥺🥺
6:01 "well whaterver"
The correct statement is: Everyone involved is ok.
We all know Russell Phillips was the worst😢
Isn't that MJ at 00:56 ?
Yup. Debris from the wreck ended up lodged in the front grille of his RV that was parked there.
The Tim Jordan crash was not at Wall Stadium
it was at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl
@@pjbozowski519 my bad move on
That ended dario career
Notice in Conor’s crash, Dmitry Suranovich was already missing the rear wing. He was blocking while being lapped. What an ass.
He wasn't being lapped, he just kept defending his position like crazy, while ignoring the black and orange flag that was already shown to him.. He was disqualified afterwards.
2010 indy, not 11
Tim Jordan was not wall stadium
I am awake
1:19 2010
What the hell happened to the video
The best part about the Mason Rudolph story, is that the last 2 weeks transformed his financial security for life. Because until 2 weeks ago, with no good videotape in years, he was getting close to possibly being out of the league. But now, REGARDLESS of whether the Steelers want him next year, SOMEONE will. He's gone from "probably out of the league next year" to "maybe even getting QB1 tryouts next year".
Do you enjoy motorsport accidents?
How vulgar!
Think about the preciousness of life.
0:22 if you think he was weaving you need to STOP COMMENTING NOW……
ALL HE DONE WAS HOLD HIS LINE N OTHER PILOT HIT HIS BACK LEFT TYRE CALL IT RIGHT OR QUIT!!!
YOU SOUND STUPID WHEN YOU DONT KNOW YOUR JOB
God, those spelling mistakes are really aggrevating. Why upload a video without at least double-checking the names?
American motorsport safety is honestly appalling
Dumb fat-tire truck races, Embarrassing.
That Ferrari became a wing😮
