Whiskey & Facts: Donald Sutherland

Donald Sutherland portrayed heroes and villains throughout his career in film and television, having made over 200 appearances; from the conspiring Nazi spy to the grieving family man to the skilled surgeon saving lives in Vietnam.
Although he never won an Oscar during his career, Donald was given an honorary Academy Award in 2017 in recognition of his prolific and exceptional contribution to the craft of filmmaking. He remains heralded as an actor's actor and was enormously respected for his chameleon-like nature and his capacity to steal a scene at any given moment.
He was a true Canadian patriot and a diehard fan of the Montreal Expos. Originating from St. John, New Brunswick, Donald was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1978 and inducted into the Canadian Walk of Fame in 2000.
He once said: "People in Canada, we've lost something, and I hate that we've lost it. We cannot try to become a clone of some other country."
