@@ThatTonnatoTenrec necroposting hard but: the infinity bandana restricts the mission rating to A or below. The water pistol just has infinite ammo by default
This is the 2nd hardest mission in the game to get No Traces on if you want to complete the optional objective of eliminating all Soviet vehicles, including the gunship and tank reinforcements. It can also be the _easiest_ mission to No-Trace, if you extract one vehicle and then just wait somewhere until the timer runs out -- but it's not how I like to do things. There are quite a few non-obvious tricks here, so I'll try to explain them: 1) I placed a tank near the mission's starting point before accepting the mission (you can see me entering it at 6:45). It wasn't truly necessary, but it let me deal with the last two vehicles much more quickly (7:45). Blocking vehicles with the horse gives me enough time to extract only one at a time. With the tank blocking the road I could extract both at the same spot. Also worth noting that when enemies open fire on your unmanned vehicles does not negate any stealth bonuses or alert other enemies when they hear the gunfire. 2) Why so much horse pooping? It's not I have a fetish or something, it's just a convenience measure. When you block vehicles' path with the horse and they signal it to move out of the way, the horse tends to run to the side of the road. But if you tell it to defecate before a vehicle gets close, it will ignore the beeping and stay still until it finishes pooping. That saves me some time trying to catch it after I extract a vehicle. 3) About the helicopter: it may seem strange that the helicopter blowing stuff up does not negate any stealth bonuses, but that's how it works. The problem is, if you summon the helicopter as a fire support it will negate No Traces and limit your rank to an A. So I can't do that -- I can only summon it as a pick up. Now, the difficult part is to get it to actually shoot at enemies. As far as I can tell, the helicopter will engage enemies only if they are 200 meters or less away from its position when it arrives at LZ (or if you were detected and enemies already know your position). Otherwise it ignores all attacks and just floats in one place waiting for you. So, if you remain undetected, summon the helicopter and let it sit at LZ, the enemy gunship will open fire on it from ~300 meters away and, as result, the chopper will ignore it and will get destroyed. Which is why I had to properly time the helicopter's arrival (15:32). Also, while you can let the helicopter engage enemy vehicles, you can't let it attack human enemies because that will count as a kill. That's why I had to dismiss it after it destroyed the gunship to get it out of the combat mode (16:10) and then immediately summoned it back.

+vman339 Yeah, it grew because of the nuke. It was the normal size the whole game, even though I killed a few hundred people. The horn was even bigger at first (about palm's length), but shrank to medium size after I played a bit.

I wondered how you would do this mission as this mission got eliminating tanks and army. But, the way you did it, no one can possibly imagine to do the mission in that way. Excellent mate as always. Thanks for the entertainment and insight of the mission.
This is my new favourite game of all time. Bought it years ago and over these last few years I started to play it, but I got frustrated with it because I was always trying to do everything without getting caught and didn't understand the mother base thing, but then I just went on ahead any way and then things just clicked for me. I did this mission earlier tonight but I used the grenade launcher and rank D airstrike to destroy the tanks😂 It was so satisfying to do it that way, but man, I just absolutely love this game and I love watching videos of people play it as well-just like yours.
Didn't even imagine how difficult is to do this mission right. Stole first 3 vehicles, then the hostage jeep appeared... and driven around the horse mine, which was supposed to stun it! Everything gone bad after that, had to reload checkpoint and realized there's none since the very start of the mission. Looks like the whole timed part (or the whole mission!) is without checkpoints, one mistake after a 10+ minutes of perfect performance ruins everything.
I managed to get S rank with combat alert and kills. But that's probably because I completed all objectives and no retries. Damn this mission was so intense.
Yep, there is enough time to do that. I tried rescuing them during some earlier attempts but then decided against it because it added a lot of riding back and forth through empty terrain without really adding anything interesting. The mission was already very long without that. There are only two prisoners who are kept inside the outposts (at the Palace and the Barracks), but I was going to rescue prisoners from the same locations in the next mission anyway. That was another reason I didn't bother doing it here. Why not try it yourself? Be the change you wish to see in the world ;)

Had a question about the final part. You called in Pequad to destroy gunship, and then dismissed it? I am guessing in order to call it again for pick up, you have to cancel it once? Or is there any other problems? Thanks for these amazing videos, you dont know how much these extreme playthrough means to me. Thank you!
@@DarthDragon007 Yes Chopper kills through pick-up calls shouldn't count as kills but it triggers an "alert" to the outpost which will make them prioritize the chopper. The chopper detection has a smaller range than the enemies so it will prioritize picking you up than attacking the enemy but the enemies may reach the chopper and the LZ especially with the use of mortar emplacement/s. He dismissed it so it npcs on land won't fully commit on tracing it back to the landing zone.
