If you were favored by 50 and only are ahead by 2 at the end of the game (there I avoided using that word), you are on the other side of a moral victory which means a moral LOSS. There are always 2 sides to the coin. I hate trying to make comparisons, but if you (even if we gave you a month to prepare) were to get in the ring with a real boxer, and somehow got the match to last the full length with him getting the victory by points, would ANYONE say that he won that fight? No, he would be so favored, it would be embarrassing for the "winner". Heck look at how we view the ending of the original Rocky, Apollo won the fight, but he didn't "win".
I spent a year tutoring athletes after I finished my master's at Bama in 2017. I was lucky enough to tutor Slade Bolden and Jaylen Armour-Davis when they were just baby freshmen. Couple of really good, respectful, smart, talented young men.

It is good they had this type of game early in the season against a quality team that wouldn't just lay down. They should be able to learn from this and grow through the rest of the season. They better have a hunger after this.

Very true, and this Dawg house agrees. But did he not watch our game afterwards to comment? In recovery perhaps? 😉 I got to see Ugga more in the 4th quarter on TV than all last season because the commentators needed more stuff besides donuts to talk about. If Shane Beamer is right about our defense, it could (finally) be our year. I don't see Clemson in the playoffs again this season after the GT struggle win.

Florida was one of the few teams to match up with last year's NC team. The SECCG came down to being able to keep at least two scores ahead for most of the game. In today's game and the offensive schemes being used, some games are just going to be that way when you have two good teams facing off.

Alabama needs games like that to remind them that they are human and can be humbled. All game, Florida shredded Alabama on crossing routes and up the middle-ALL GAME, and Golding never re-adjusted the defense not once! Wont say that could have changed the game but c'mon man! When the other team is hammering you for 4 quarters in the middle of the field you do nothing to adjust your defense, THATS ON YOU! Clearly a failure on Goldings part. My hats off to the Gators for giving Alabama exactly what they needed. HUMBLING! Now maybe they will play with more intensity for the rest of the season because sometimes you have to be reminded not to read into the media hype. Anyone is beatable and Florida came damn close to proving that on Saturday. ROLL TIDE

FunnyMaine, If we was anywhere else besides the Swamp ( Bryant Denny, Atlanta), I would call it a struggle win. We took a Freshman QB, with 2 starts under his belt into one of the most hostile environments in the country and got the W!!!!!!

I’ll put this here, too: Florida got outscored but Alabama got outplayed. Coach Saban gets so much grief for being “overly” critical of his team, but this game proved what he’s been saying about maintaining intensity and playing good, consistent football for four quarters. So far this Alabama team has failed to play four good quarters in a row. To be fair and honest, I don’t think they’ve put together two good quarters back-to-back.
I’m trying not to overreact to one game, but Bryce has some issues with accuracy (Bolden’s drop notwithstanding). The offensive line still hasn’t seemed to find a rhythm, which is making for a questionable run game, and the defense that produces goal line stands as tough as a $2 steak looks at times too soft and lacks a sense of urgency. I see too much poor arm tackling (resulting in missed tackles) and too many guys not pursuing the ball when it matters (it always matters).
This was supposed to be Nick Saban’s “best defense ever.” People can criticize Golding all they want, but the expectations of this defense were not based on who was on the sideline. Players get hurt every game, every season, but at Bama it’s next man up.
I hope they get it together before Lane and Ole Miss or that could be a looong day. And we all know Lane Kiffin would love to be the first former assistant to hand Saban a loss.
Darth Vader is always right about where his team is not performing like he would like them too. They are almost always so good overall it doesn't matter, but Saban, as much as I wish he would retire, is pretty much never wrong about where his team is executing as he would like and where it isn't. Really, there are a lot of nice beaches out there.
