    Thanks - it is always a benefit to see someone else's solutions for various brass model making situations. I really liked the use of clear tape to hold the parts for forming and soldering, and the sprung screw soldering fixtures.
    I laughed at the mop handle and cushion part - don't worry about it - I often cut off just the right size hardwood tree branch from my yard and lathe / sand it straight to use as radius forming tools...

    • @HobbyVideos
      @HobbyVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your messege.
      I think I can bend the roof well with the mop handle and cushions, so I thought I don't have to buy any tools.
      But I think if you see someone making it with proper tools, you'll laugh.
      By the way, what do you call clear tape?
      We call 'sero tape' in Japanese,
      When I converted by Google Translate, it became a scotch tape in English.

    • @scottb8175
      @scottb8175 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HobbyVideos Hi.
      If you don't have the "proper" tools, a skilled builder will make the workpiece with what is available. It usually just takes more care, effort, time, and maybe produces less accurate results.
      Scotch Tape is a brand / company trademark name - actually the company is the giant industrial 3M corporation. There are many brands of similar clear tape in North America and elsewhere. This type of clear tape is technically known as cellulose or cellophane backed pressure sensitive adhesive tape. I believe it is identical to "sero tape".

       私は、さほど英語が話せるほどでもなく、英検3級しか資格はないです。今回は、グーグル翻訳機能を使って、英語に翻訳しました。こんなに話せたら良いですが、でもこの動画を作って少しは英語の単語などを覚えました。
      例えば、日本語で雨樋の事を「シルヘッダー」と言っていたのが英語では「レインガーター」とか、網棚は、「ラゲッジラック」とか、「ラジオペンチ」は、「ノーズ プライアーズ」とか、まあこれからは、英語も入れて行かないとダメなような感じになっています。

    I wouldn't use a centre punch to start cutting the windows. What you need is a Vertical drill stand, and then clamp the brass sheet in place, so you can drill directly into a smooth brass surface. This method avoids denting or disforming the brass sheet before drilling, it's also quicker !
    Happy modelling.

    I was a jeweller for 20 years but now work for the railway for some time. I am now thinking about unpacking my old tools to try and emulate your work. Thankyou for the English version and I will watch your other videos to learn more.
    Btw, the jewellers term for cutting out shapes in sheet metal is called "saw piercing". Have you considered using bees wax on the saw blade itself? (I've used candle wax too just to see how it would behave and it was okay)
    You taught me many things in one video, I am looking forward to watching more of them.

    This is an inspiring video - thank you so much!
    I wish it was so straightforward to motorise a model in N gauge (41:16). No-one seems to sell wheelsets like that for 9mm gauge!

    • @HobbyVideos
      @HobbyVideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much.
      This model is a 1/80 model at a scale that is unique to Japan.
      In Japan, this 1/80th model is called HO gauge.
      The track width is 16.5 mm.
      It is a size close to 1/87, which is called HO gauge worldwide.
      However, the width of the actual Japanese railroad track is 1067 mm, which is 13 mm when divided by 80.
      So I'm making a 1/80 model with a track width of 13mm.
      N gauge is small and cheap, so I think it's better to buy a finished product than to make it, so I think that parts are not sold well.
