  • We are looking at a series of published articles that focus on studying variants and attempting to predict the future pandemic waves to dominate the world. This includes a favourite group of scientists in the pandemic prediction business. Variant wave predictions seem rare so let's see how these authors have fared, and their reasoning behind bold claims. Current candidates: XBB, BQ.1.1 and BA.2.75!

    The "waning" effect of the mran shots were known to the authorities way in advance thus they were pushing for re jabbing.
    The whole CoV2 impact was known to the authorities well in advance and to the jab makers as well. The partners in crime!

    I wonder what the effect of having vaccinated the global population with the same spike protein has in the now observed evolution since we all made antibodies against the same epitopes. Wouldn't this favor immune imprinting thus generating more non neutralizing antibodies and make us more susceptible to waves of subvariants?

    • @spudunit
      @spudunit ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems a good bet that it would. But keep in mind that not everyone got the mRNA injections. China didn't use them, nor did Russia. Take a look at the global outbreak map -- the big angry red blobs are clustered around the highest vaccinated regions, and a casual survey shows most of those used the novel mRNA transfection agents. Then look at Africa -- only around 10% vaccinated on the continent, and they seem to be doing well. Naturally-aquired herd immunity?

      Trust me, there is nothing easy about these predictions, which is why so few people are actually daring to predict future of the pandemic (and be successful). In this case, the authors are using sophisticated models based on half a century of researching three dimensional composition of atoms in biological materials. Attempting to map the interaction of spike protein with corresponding antibodies or the ACE2 receptor is very sophisticated and complicated because the biology of it all is quite complex. In the end, these are just models but the real life outcomes in comparison to predictions makes these guys more successful than some of the authorities with their past horribly wrong expectations. This is the weird part about all these variants, you never know when a given variant might take off, if it is maintained in existence in a population. Remember Delta that eventually took over the entire world once mass vaccination started? It was detected much sooner before that and despite it's power to even resist many vaccinated individual's immunity, it was not a variant that took over the world till later. This type of splintering of branches of evolution that we are seeing now is potentially bad as it just increases the potential of recombining to produce weird virus chimeras. As long as we don't have some really bad "bug" produced and as long as our population immunity recovers enough to stop such massive number of pathogen infections we are now seeing. Our bodies can become overburdened with too many infections so we do want this to end soon too

    Hey Doc, another question do you know or studied how long spike protein stays in your system after getting vaccinated?

    • @Merogenomics
      @Merogenomics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is currently no definitive answer to how long the spike protein produced by the COVID-19 vaccines remains in the body. The duration of spike protein presence may depend on factors such as the individual's immune response, vaccine type, and the dose received. However, it's important to note that the spike protein produced by the vaccines is not the same as the intact virus and is not infectious. The spike protein is produced in order to stimulate an immune response to protect against COVID-19 infection. Some preliminary studies suggest that the spike protein may be cleared from the body within a few days to weeks after vaccination, but more research is needed to fully understand the kinetics of the vaccine-induced spike protein.

    Hi Dr. Raszek, is it possible for these new variants, to cause a person to get sick again or relapse after recovery and neg PCR. People are returning to work, school, daily life duties, feeling recovered and then get sick again on day 5, or thereafter. People I'm talking about are young and have no underlying health issues.

    • @Merogenomics
      @Merogenomics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it is possible for someone to get infected with a different strain of the virus or to experience a relapse of symptoms after recovering from COVID-19. The emergence of new variants of the virus, some of which may be more transmissible or more resistant to existing vaccines, means that people who have already been infected or vaccinated may not be fully protected against these new strains.
      It is also possible for people to experience a relapse of symptoms after recovering from COVID-19. While most people with COVID-19 recover without any long-term effects, some people experience lingering symptoms, known as long COVID or post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), for weeks or even months after their initial illness. These symptoms can include fatigue, shortness of breath, cough, joint pain, chest pain, and brain fog, among others.
      It is important to continue to practice preventive measures, such as wearing masks, practicing social distancing, washing hands frequently, and getting vaccinated when eligible, to reduce the risk of getting infected with COVID-19 or its variants. If someone experiences symptoms after recovering from COVID-19 or receiving the vaccine, they should contact their healthcare provider for guidance on testing and treatment.

      Currently, the most widely accepted theory is that the virus originated from a natural spillover event, where the virus jumped from an animal host (possibly a bat) to humans, possibly through an intermediate host like a pangolin. However, there is ongoing debate and investigation into the possibility of a lab leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.
      As for the virus's ability to adapt quickly, it is true that viruses have a high mutation rate and can quickly evolve to evade detection or treatments. This is why vaccines may need to be updated regularly to keep up with new variants. However, the idea that the virus was specifically engineered to be able to adapt quickly is currently not supported by scientific evidence.
