You cannot be happy with the flames coming out of the firebox, and leaking hot water just before steam rises. In a confined area of a model boat, that won't be on a stable platform like you table the flames and water spillage will be a concern.
I doubt you could get many watts out of it, just think its running out of 3 fuel pellets, how much power (minus loses) could those pellets produce.... Not to mention the design is not the most efficient there is.
Laharl Krichevskoy But at that price point you can't expect top of line equipment. It would be fine for a modeller who is either starting out and wants to learn about steam plants without breaking the hobby budget.
@@laharl2k Most waxy fuels have a high energy density somewhere 40Mj/l. This translates to about 10kW/h. Those pellets were maybe between 5 and 10cm3 ? Plus the efficiency of the engine x 30% gives us a too high most likely 15/30w/h, but in the area. If the fuel was half as energetic as I reasoned then 5 - 7.5 /10-15 w/h would sound more reasonable. This is not my area so I could be talking rubbish. Edit that engine probably isn't anywhere near 30% thinking about it..Would guess it's in the teens.
I watch one video and now TH-cam thinks all I want to do is watch mini steam engine videos forever. I mean, it's not wrong, but still. The presumption!
Just the layout of engine and boiler. The in line set up gives a narrow arrangement to fit a propeller but does not allow for anything else to be driven from the flywheel.
Nice little plant !
Great video as always. Really interesting to see the window into the boiler giving visibility of what's going on inside, unusual and fun feature.
Looking forward to seeing how this project unfolds.

Seems to run quite smoothly, nice little power plant for the price

I have one of these engines! Thought about using it as a float activated freshwater pump!!!!!
Think I saw an ad in a 60's Popular Mechanics magazine.
It was a , Build your own steam engine
I have a question if anyone can answer me please...can we replace using sodium silicate with epoxy or resin for making cores???

I want to watch only mini steam and model engine videos. But TH-cam shows me otherwise. Yes bloody presumptions.
Feels a bit like a Bangood affiliate advert rather than the start of a project.
Very nice
Would a vent up the chimney be good ?
The steam does need directing away from the front.
Nice! Can't wait for the next one to see this go balls out! (Here is where the youngsters at YT delete my comments! Book learning fellas!)
What power the engine have?
It seems you need asbestos hands to control that throttle valve :)
conversion into what?
Marine to stationary.
what's particular of a "marine" engine?

Make that condensate return pump!!!!!! Too early in the morning!!!!!! U.S. East coast!!!!!
Man, the shoddy construction especially with that boiler doesnt justify a $200 price tag....
Cool!👍
Every home should have one ) LOL
