    Hi Michael.
    Interesting video.
There does seem to be some confusion/misinformation though. You say you "do not exit signal" on a mini roundabout. This is incorrect and not the information that is supplied in DES or the HWC.
If using using MSPSL on approach to a roundabout, surely "gears" comes directly after "speed" and not at the end of the sequence?

      Thank you.
Would you be able to show me in the RTA or TSRGD where it states you MJST or even Should exit signal at a mini roundabout.
With regards to gear being at the end. A gear is speed relative and NOT situation relative. So until you have assessed the situation, you can not state which gear is needed. For instance, which gear to use for a give way line?

      Hi Michael.
Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry if my comments were taken in the wrong way. I find it difficult not coming across too negative but I'm sure you're used to it, doing as much social media as you do.
I don't want to turn this into an argument on who is right or wrong however, I don't see the reasoning behind bringing up the RTA.
If a signal will benefit someone, surely it should be used?
You telling people not to exit signal on mini roundabouts is not the correct advice. Again, ref to DES.
In relation to gears. If we use MSPSLADA, then gears are part of speed! Ref to DES.
If you want to use IPSGA, gears come after speed, not at the end. Ref to Roadcraft.
Although all ADI's have their own style of teaching, we should all be teaching the same content. Would you not agree?
      Thank you for your time.

I appreciate your comment and your views, as it shows the various techniques used to teach people.
With regards to exit signals, a combination of entry signal and position dictates intent to other road users as they have seen the approaching vehicle due to not having any obstructions. So due to that I don’t see why an exit signal benefits anyone else. I agree that I shouldn’t have said ‘should not use one’ though.
But all the acronyms you mentioned are in my opinion, not applicable in a few scenarios. For instance, on the approach to a ‘T’ junction, you will not know it’s an open or closed junction until you’ve Looked/Assessed. And only then can an appropriate gear be selected depending on the speed at the approach. For roundabouts, I have no issue with a client going straight in 5th if it’s safe to do so. And often the down change to 2nd would be detrimental to following vehicles.
As for teaching the same content, as long as the end product is safe the path isn’t an issue. For me, MSPSL or IPSGA can lead to hesitation or rushed entries as the driver is fixated with routine instead of assessing a situation in its entirety.
