Last year 2022, I inherited one of these NIB after a dear friend succumbed to cancer related to 911. I haven't been able to bring myself to shoot it yet, but after watching your excellent video I believe it is time to take it out of the box.
I got the little badger in 22mag, I puts three dot crossbow scope on it. It’s a lot better than I thought it would be. I got it as a little pack gun. Hope you enjoy yours and have fun with it.
Ideal long term wilderness survival rifle/shotgun combination. You can hunt a variety of small to medium games with that. I only have the NEF youth single shot 20 gauge shotgun. Nice video.
Excellent review. I was wanting this for squirrel hunting and like you said a practical opportunity hunting combo. I could have harvested turkey among other things while out.
I have had this gun in the 22/410 configuration love it,but make sure you remove the forearm and check the set screw for the ejector they have a tendency to come loose and parts fall out, customer service is non existent
You could look into slug rifle choke , which will turn a smooth barrel into a rifle barrel . (If your shutgun can take that type of choke ) I have the m6 scout and have taken 1 red(15 yards ) and 1 grey 20-25 yards .. Red dot Also my scout didn’t like 22 stingers if you were to store it for a long time , I went to refresh the ammo and the bullet head was stuck inside the chamber (had to get it out with a rod ) just fyi . It could shoot it , just not good to store one in the chamber for a long period of time . Also they make target stand that you can hit the standing target and it will pop up a disk and you can try to switch to the shotgun and try to hit it 😅
Thank you for the video i have a Savage Model 24 C 22 LR 20 GA but i am looking at the doble badger 22 LR 20 GA my Savavge i got in 1976 i keep it in my go bag i need one more for my girl's go bag to,
Interesting review. I wouldn't mind picking one up some day. I've always been annoyed that if I bring my rifle, I wish I had a shotgun, and visa versa, and I've heard bad things about the stoeger. Just curious about the accuracy test. We're those first shots? 22's really need to get a little dirty before they settle down. I just wonder if accuracy would improve a little with about 20 or so rounds down the barrel. Cuz at only 25, assuming that was off a branch, is not too great.
Comprehensive Outdoors Jeff Hale Interesting. The sight would be a problem with any double gun like that, because obviously a shotgun and rifle have very different requirements. I'm trying to imagine a fibre optic with a peep sight. I use fibre optic with shotguns and love them, and have one on a rifle with buckhorn sights, but never with a peep. For peeps I've used a post, and a couple target rifles with both peeps and round front sights, but not like this.
Just bought one, used, off the Cabela website and they shipped it from a store Utah to Little Rock, Bass Pro. No shipping, no FFL with pickup at their store. $299 and tax.
Good video! I’ve had Savage Model 42s, both regular and takedown, and miss them. Based on what you’ve presented, I think I need to try a Chiappa Double Badger now. Looks good! BTW are you on Vancouver Island? Kinda looks like it. I live in Saanich, so it kind of looks like the Island.
You're missing the point of combination guns. Sorry for being blunt. Here in Europe, specifically Germany, there are loads of combination guns around. They come from the fact, that here we don't have a licence hunting system but a territorial system where you rent territories, so to speak. Anyway, the whole point of a combined gun is that you are equipped for anything your rented territory has to offer gamewise. So that you don't have to bring more than one gun. For example: you stalk a deer, take out a fox and in the evening you get some ducks... Your mistake is to want to have that deer rifle. The whole point of a combined gun is to have a shotgun and a deer rifle in one firearm. I use a 12 gauge over a .308 Win. With that combo i can take anything from wild hog, roe deer, down to foxes, raccoons, hare or pigeon. Don't think of a combined gun as a supplement of a deer rifle. Think of it as a deer rifle plus a shotgun. So get a good combined gun, take that out and leave your deer rifle at home, don't need it. Ther's even combined guns with three barrels, mostly two shotgun plus one rifled barrel but also to rifled barrels in small and big calibre plus a shotgun barrel. With that you have a varmint rifle a deer rifle and a shotgun.
Do they still make them over there? Or are they just a bunch of old drilling guns? The little badger is the only one I know of still in production here in the U.S.
@@jerichofalls8236they still make them here. Mostly it's high end stuff because lots of people want bolt actions but my combo is czech made and from 3 years ago. It's chambered in .308 / 12ga
@@hb8718 That's awesome. I imagine they are exportable, no? Believe the only hitch in American law pertains to "assault" weapons. I have no idea about European law
I don't want to be "that guy" but It is a k sound not a chee sound. Ki-appa. Just saying bro. also good video, I don't like the gun, but that's not on you. that's On Chiappa. I like the Rhino, and a couple others, but this one, I won't ever buy.
Well didn't know that. Everyone I know is calling it a Chee-appa. So I guess I'll just follow the crowd. But then, I still have trouble calling a Koch a Katch. Or coach, or cock. Coke is something I use to drink before they went political on me.
One reviewer the guy took the front sight fiber out and cut the rear half off and stuck it back in, in the most front section of the front sight and said it allowed for more precise shots.

Your friend must have had a lot of guns because I have seen this comment on so many gun reviews on newer ones and older ones.
I had my double badger re-chambered to .22 mag and put a red dot on it. It is now an amazing gun
I have the same rifle. I have also purchased the excaliber inserts in 9mm, 357mag, 45 acp, and 410g

I have one in .22wmr .410. Really like it. My savage 42 is a little flimsy

In the beginning of the video there was a plastic tube with red rubber caps when you were going over the ammo. What tube is that?
Very good comprehensive review
I have a SAVG MODEL 24 no single 22 on top 410 on the bottom i keep trying to find out how long it should be

I always used CCI minimal inmy 22LR semi automatic and they perform well
Thanks for the great video! I noticed the 20g barrel has a "screw-in choke". What choke insert did you use / do you have?
Just the choke from the factory; modified. 👍🏼
Takes a REM choke.
Is the shotgun barrel threaded for different chokes?
What type of safety does it have, tang, crossbolt or is it a half cock type ?

Hi Jim
Yes, the 22 is only “hunting accurate” at close ranges. However with an upgraded front sight I believe this rifle could drive racks!

Add a 30-30 rifled insert for the 20ga tube, and "remain calm, all is well".
Where can I find the cheek pad on your gun?
Have you ever tried longer range targets? Thanks.
All I can say is, where did you find it? I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t find any 22lr over 20 gauge.
Search Armslist private dealers that ship. They’re out there!

What was the price on it? I have an old stevens 22/410. looking to upgrade
About $325
Note:Brno is a city, not an an acronym.
I see one available for $350 at the moment. Lol thinking about picking it up but still deciding.... would you buy it again?
Henry Survival Rifle is a .22LR
Thank you
I think this might be a good candidate for a red dot. Not normally what i would go with but it would probably work well with that combo
I agree. I think a red dot wouldn’t be too obtrusive yet would still allow more accuracy. Just not sure how it would affect my shotgun shooting
I think they make one that’s .243 over .410, and I kinda wish it was .243 over 20
I wonder if drilling 243 and 20 ga at once would make the barrel flimsy. I too want a deer gun shotgun combo
Thanks for the Video 👌. New Subscriber 👍. Cheers 🙏🇨🇦.
