This is the easiest rocking chair build I could think of. I have never used a bandsaw or built a chair before and in under an hour with less than $10 in 2x4's I was able to build a sturdy, long lasting rocking chair.

I know you said you're not building anything fancy but maybe round off the front of the armrests and taper the rear of the armrests to give it a slimmer look?.. not bad for your first rocking chair build.
