I love your videos. I've been sewing for over 50 years, yet I learn something almost every time I watch you. Now, may I offer a tip to you? This is about when you turn things right side out (like the sleep mask) and work out the edges & press. Give the project a quick press before you turn it. Just press it flat. I know it sounds silly. I can't remember where I learned this, but I do rememberthinking it sounded counterintuitive. It felt like I was doing the opposite of what needed to be done. But it does work. It's got something to do with setting the stitches. When I press it flat first, then turn it, it turns so much nicer and smoother. It gives me a really neat edge to press. I thought you might like to give it a try. Keep up the good work & I'll keep watching & learning.
Aside from the lovely projects, I always love the wealth of advice that you give for Sewing more effectively and time saving! I always learn a lot and it’s often advice I’ve never seen anywhere else before. One of my favorites this time was the tip to use the serger thread for a loop Turner. I’ve tried so many times doing that with normal sewing machine thread but it often comes loose even if I sew onto the corner of the tube (in case a loose fabric with a lot of friction the whole area often unravels). The serger thread trick looks to be far more sturdy and should be able to pull the loop with ease

What lovely and practical gifts❤️. I might try them for my nieces. In the interests of sharing, I saw a hack for turning corners recently which seems to work well. It is a bit like your tail method for turning tubes. You start sewing at the point of a corner, but leave the thread tail so it is sandwiched between the layers of the thing you are making. You then sew appx 1 inch out from the corner and return, and 1 inch past the corner the other way and back. Then you sew the seam as normal, passing over or slightly inside the sewing you did on the corner. When you turn the item right side out, you can tug on the thread tails and it pulls the corner out with a really sharp point. Then you just trim the tails off. A little bit more of a pfaff, but when you are doing something more tailored such as cuffs or collars with a crisp cotton it seems to work well, plus the corner is reinforced. Hope you make a speedy recovery🙂

Cathrine, I love your videos. But why do you, when quadrupeling your yarn, take the open ends (2 threads into your needle) instead of threading the closed end from the other side into the eye of your needle? I think this is easier, that's how my grandmother taught me... . Other than that, you gave me 100 good ideas, at least, since I have been following you. Take care + get well soon!
I like the different fabrics and the bit of lace on the book cover! I have a question. Is there a reason not to use pinking sheers in stead of clipping on curved edges? I never see anyone do it, but it seems so obvious to me. What am I missing?
You're not missing anything! Pinking shears are great for that. My only hesitation would be that the triangles have to come quite close to the stitching, so you have to have a lot of control to make sure you don't stray too far away, or worse, get too close and cut your stitching. If you're confident with your linking shears, go for it!
Hey, I love the idea of buying small amounts of very nice fabric. So often I’m trying to get the most yardage for my $$. Sweet gift ideas. I think I’d use white rice for the heated bags, though. It goes rancid at room temp. Maybe after you’ve heated it a few times it will keep it from getting that smell-but the bran is still there on brown rice, and the fat spoils. Personally I can’t stand that smell.
You know, I also sometimes sew the ruffle/elastic band type additions before I put the whole thing together so I don’t have to deal with all the layers & pins to just see around one time. Less nerve-wracking-you just have to make sure your stitches don’t show.

Beautifull! A quick note about the rice. Brown rice will get rancid in a year or so. White rice stays fresh for years.
