Prince was that way when recording, he believed if the Spirit was there you steamrolled ahead.

Really underrated jam! Nice review. Always heard that he told bad that if a mistake or malfunction jus play thru. Looks like that what happen
    Nice job, Brian

Very cool. He has so much charisma and strong vocal chops that he could have been a top artist if he just sang.

Totally missed this when I watched the Bluray. I just assumed he fancied a non-guitar version of the song. Sherylanne for the win!
It shows several interesting things to me...
    - his vocals always have to take a slight back step for him to do all the guitar histrionics.
    - the song isn't as strong without the awesome guitar work.
    - he laughs near the end because the band do a version of his guitar histrionics at the very end before it reprises into the crescendo.... He laughs because it's like the band know it so well, they even count the "improvised" guitar stuff at the end as part of the song.
    - he applauds at the end because his band deserve applause. They stepped up and filled in the void without missing a beat. They're great players but they still needed to show their metal.
    Fabulous stuff.

Technical problem, no problem. Prince kept it pushing. A true professional 💜💜

Bravo. Great commentary. Made me realize the guitar issue. Don't think I ever saw a less than stellar performance of "Shhh" through the years. Thanks Bryan.

Yep. Guitar went out. That’s why Renato got a solo and why he ended the song playing the solo on the NORD keyboard that he normally would on his guitar. Master performer and showman

Prince just kept pushing with the musicianship he surrounded himself with. Now I understand his ambivalence about reunion tours with the revolution. No offense to them but staying in the moment is incredibly brave to do.

Agreed: this was actually superb. The guitar problem wasn't really a problem.

I've heard multiple sources say that Prince would tell them "If you hit the wrong note, then play the same note again and make it resolve into the right note. The audience will think you meant to do it that way.." or something to that effect. Great reaction.

"Renato is a hot keyboard player.....er....yes....to someone": you heard it first from Bryan (YYCPG) x 2023

Yes, that is the inimitable Ida Neilson on bass. (U R really getting good with the band members’ names. I’m impressed!)
Great reaction as always Bryan. 🙂👍

Shhhh was originally written and released for Tevin Campbell the teen sensation at the time.
Prince was such a great musician and always had great bands. Mediocre wasn't ever acceptable by Prince

I love this reaction! It's been awhile. And can we just give these ladies (Shelby, Liv, and Elisa) their props?
Good Lordie Love..I'm really missing the all the excitement that comes with anticipating/attending/experiencing Prince's concerts.
Not sure why, but I always refer to Renato as the Matrix Man during this time.

Hi Bryan, long time no speak! Great reaction to an off the cuff performance of Shhh. Please, please react to the full version, with the guitar solos included. It completely changes the song! Any of his performances from the Detroit shows will do! Many thanks, and keep up the good work. Plus, well done for getting to know his band members names, I’m seriously impressed! 🙏🏽💜.

Hello fellow Canuck. This is one of my fav performances of late by Prince and his band.
It's I think 3 songs and his mood is great with the guitar in hand.
Drummer plays Shh better as well, QUEEN CORA COLEMAN th-cam.com/video/F9frsYWh-Bk/w-d-xo.html
It's go pro version so the picture is clean.
    Enjoy

I love Cora's drumming on this version of Shh. She was in pocket and clean with the licks. John is a great drummer yet gets too excited on occasion and it did get a little messy at times. Still great.

Couple things. Prince told band it's only a mistake if you stop. Band was so disciplined that when he didn't go right into first verse to resolve the tech issue they didn't miss a beat. The way Renato did the solo on keys was totally improvised. Not too many could pull that off . People always speak on prince guitar skills but as we saw , he is a nasty pianist and keyboard player. Nothing to trifle with or you'll get your feelings hurt. Lastly, the laugh at the end said it all, they adapted, overcame and slayed

Shhh.. without guitar just ain't the same thing. It's pretty sad this subpar, not even sold out show made it to BluRay. There are so many better ones.

So true. A question I've had too since the day it was announced...
I've come to the conclusion it must be because he plays the bass that they put on the front of the album.
It's the only thing that makes any sense on why a Tuesday night on a half-empty Forum was the one chosen from a tour that had a sold out MSG and a NJ gig loaded with celebs.
