People who buys them are all 30+ people who grew up with the arcades. It's great for one player. When you play with two grown up, it's like shoulder bump hell. If we were 10 years old tiny teens, this wouldn't be an issue. I will probably make my own 32 Inch cabinet so you can comfortably play with two players.
It boggles my mind that they can’t seem to make a cab for 2 adults to play on (their target demographic). The spacing between players is no better than A1Ups. They hit all the other marks to improve on your average A1Up cab, though. And for those reasons, I’m out.
Yeah. Even back in the day playing on full sized cabinets you were shoulder to shoulder with two players. But if you widen it enough for two players to comfortably play the cabinet won't look authentic. At that point you might as well connect a console or a PC to a TV with two wired sticks and sit on the couch.
I totally agree. I rather it's slightly slanted away from eachother. I know someone who built their own and ordered the x-arcade tank stick with the ball in the middle just for more space
The original SF2 side art was boring, this looks better. All the old original 90's Capcom Street fighter cabs were black with a sticker slapped on the side, or blue or red with a sticker slapped on the side. These look better than the original cabs in my opinion.
Fix the marquee washout, buttons and sticks need upgraded immediately! COME CORRECT OR DONT COME AT ALL!!! We are going to be less forgiving this time around!
I absolutely love what media1up is doing. The power button and volume looks so much cleaner and better than A1up. I do prefer 1:1 with the art and control layout but thats just me being pickey. The red button at the top of the cab does look odd and weird, they should place it behind where its not visible. I love they are trying to do the recessed monitor and I hope they can nail it down because that was something I wish a1up did.
This is a great video. Thank you for a hands-on play through. And thank you for showing all the angles of the cabinets and for giving us feedback on the controls and design. Keep up the good work.
For real.I hated being shoulder to shoulder when playing against someone on arcade1ups.Once I got an Atgames legends ultimate I can’t go back to these smaller cabs.Should have went wider

Love what John is doing and this is totally the new A1up! Now all he needs to do is make some sit down Daytona USA 1 and 2 with other versions of the game linkable cabinets and online. Then Hydrothunder and other racing games and I’ll be good and hopefully he listens and goes for rare games never ported before or in a long time like Galaxian 3 and it has 3 games. Hopefully he can convince Namco.
Love it, and agree with all your points. Controls should be prioritized. Regardless I pre ordered OG yesterday. Question, can 2 adults play reasonably comfortably side by side? One of my biggest issues with 1up is when friends come over we're playing each other at an angle.

I bought my original sf cab several years ago for $200 with a burnt out monitor. Surprisingly was in excellent shape. After a monitor swap and clean up I’m at $850 and change. Why would I buy this?
Great Video as always. I think you're review is very honest, and it gave me a great idea of what hardware is on there now. Two questions, What can you tell us about the software? Like what OS and emulator will it be using? Any talking about other style cabs, Shooters, Racing Games, or trackball? Total Side Note, the Double KO was cool AF. Love the content as always! Keep it up!
Double KO was awesome! Always a fun moment when that happens. No real feedback yet on what the OS will be, this was running a version of Batocera on a Pi4. You should be able to swap SD cards with other pi5 builds to use other accessories
Y'all are pretty cozy there when playing 2 player. Cab is wobbly wobbly too. I also think it's hilarious how inspired *ahem* identical *ahem* this is by Arcade1up products. Like, all they did is change the name from an XL to an XXL and the live button to the fight button.
I love the SFA2 side art. You only saw this on the cartridge and disc cases for the game. I would definitely bought this cab and this has 3S?! Given everything, I'm still not fond of the asking price, but at least it's not 999.99
In my opinion: 1. If the sideart is too busy for some, a slap of black vinyl and artwork poster will fix this. I agree with you on the power button and marquees. 2. I feel the CP is too busy. I'd move the vol, headphone jack etc. 4. Perhaps round out the cpo edges like the old hs-1abd hs-2 cabs were? 5. How is the cp angle? Are they wrist killers? 6. Make a SFIII art set version. Otherwise, beautiful cab.
I was excited when I first saw this, was hovering over the pre-order button but hesitated. After watching the 19k Fox/Kong live stream, something didn't sit right with me and that's John D. Seemed like there were a lot of promises being made, "oh we'll get feedback and fix before June" but I swear I heard that from John D back in the MVC2 days. All the promises, then misfires, then months of back peddling while we waited for the game to be fixed. So not 100% sure I trust this cabinet or the promises of changes before production. Will have to see.
Hey Bee! Just eyeballing but the buttons remind me a LOT of the old SF 15 Anniversary arcade stick. They were also convex and sat similarly tall and the switches were a bit spongey when depressed. Better than A1U but not my favorite either. I like the design overall, just as long as the controls are not too low on the deck. I really disliked how the arcade1up Big Blue had half your hand hanging off the deck. Hopefully this new build has more palm space. I'm interested to see what the final version looks like.
It needs to be wider. A lot of comments are correct in this observation. The only reason guests do not play my Arcade1up and always use the AtGames Legends Ultimate when I throw a party is shoulder space. Shoulder space is perfect on the ALU but the 1up is just to small.
I like the size... it's already wider than an XL, and any wider would severly limit placement options (as well as how many cabinets you can fit in a space). The "90% full size" is perfect.
There should be zero marquee washouts! Marquee cabinets have been around for like 50 years like that is just those companies being cheap and lazy. I hope its not expensive. Theres so many street fighter cabinets and im all out of room unless the price is good its a pass
These are awesome, but they aren't enough to get me to sell my 1up hs5. I can soft mod my hs5 to have the alpha games and 3rd strike. If I didn't have the hs5, I'd buy one of these, but I'm not going through the hassle of upgrading
I hope this does well so they can make other units such as Killer Instinct someday. The A1up version felt underwhelming and cheap in quality compared to the price.
Looks fantastic. I'm going to go with the iconic World Warrior SF2 side art. The Alpha one just doesn't vibe with me. Plus the ladies in my family all liked the Yellow arcade look and I'm outnumbered and don't want the women giving me the cold shoulder if I got the Alpha one. :(
Solid review and so far just looking at the play, feel it players better than 1up, I saw Vu do few wake up flash where 1up its super hard unless you piano it. thats my observation but damn I wanna try it out so badddddddddddddddd

@@KongsRUs thats awesome, thanks for the info. Love the content.
Given everything, I'm still not fond of the asking price, but at least it's not 999.99
That was an awesome match!
Truly awesome!!!
These destroy Arcade 1ups. If I didnt already have like 5 candy cabs Id get one.
For some reason my cat found your video very interesting once you started the hands on demo. Just thought you should know.
Lol 😂
In my opinion:
CP angle felt fine for the several matches I played
so did Arcade1Up partner up with Iconic?
Would love a Neo Geo cabinet of this.
Thanks, good analysis!
@PaulXMann the last thing I need is to feel another dude's hands. Awful.
Needs scanlines on arcade games like this. Just does not look right without the scanlines. Thats my personal opinion .
If they are done right and doesn't darker the screen too much, scanlines make it look great. Hopefully that is an option.
There should be zero marquee washouts! Marquee cabinets have been around for like 50 years like that is just those companies being cheap and lazy. I hope its not expensive. Theres so many street fighter cabinets and im all out of room unless the price is good its a pass
Nice battle between you and 2Dai4!!
Thanks! Pretty epic, couldn't have planned it better myself
@@KongsRUs You're welcome! 💓
Nice work. I’m waiting to see if they fix the washed out marquee. That’s a deal breaker somehow for me. Overall, great work John!
Looks good for a prototype but need to reduce price by $100 at least
These are awesome, but they aren't enough to get me to sell my 1up hs5. I can soft mod my hs5 to have the alpha games and 3rd strike. If I didn't have the hs5, I'd buy one of these, but I'm not going through the hassle of upgrading
I was tempted, but then I realized it will not include SSFII. Only SSFII Turbo and Hyper Street Fighter II Turbo Anniversary Edition.
You can add whatever you want to it given it's got a PI5 inside instead of PCB like an arcade 1up. Adding games is really easy to do.
The power button in that spot is ridiculous looking. Move that, get decent sticks and dial in the alpha marquee. I am on the fence.
Glad I built my own arcade machine, but these do look better than the cheap kids versions Arcade1up puts out.
I love the cabs and am so proud of John D I’m buying them both
Wow! 😂
Yeah needs improvement. Can’t believe the power button is there. Distracting and seems last minute. Ut it behind marquee, like a real arcade.
Control panel is not long enough to rest your palms and wrist on.
Major blunder.
Didn't notice an issue with this with the several matches I played.
Solid review and so far just looking at the play, feel it players better than 1up, I saw Vu do few wake up flash where 1up its super hard unless you piano it.
thats my observation but damn I wanna try it out so badddddddddddddddd
Yah, can't wait for you to try it out man!
