Alhamdulillah I appreciate the advices and I will use all of them InshaAllah. I was curious about someone with my particular recitation style. I’d learned much of the Quran when I was younger but didn’t revise enough and forgot much as a result. At this point in time in my life, I view the Quran as not only Arabic words but the words of my Rabb, and I consider a counseling session and a guidance for every single affair of my life as well as manifestation of Allah’s Rahma. I truly cherish how far I’ve come and that primarily happened with my study of Tafsir (Ibn Kathir) mostly and my developing understanding of the Arabic language, and truly understanding that Quran addresses me directly (a very personal connection). All of this has motivated and helped my memorization, and as I read through the Quran, there are surahs that resonate more with me than others at a particular time in my life and depending on my life circumstances. So, the memorization of surahs is not in order but somewhat scattered. Considering all of this, it may just be that I truly have to work on my discipline in memorization. I just hate going to learn a surah and my heart wasn’t resonating with it in the first place. I still remember some surahs til this day because of how deeply my heart and mind were involved in it as I was memorizing them.
Is there any authentic advice for someone like me?

Assalamu alaikum. Masha Allah the tips are very practical. I've been trying to memorize the Quran for many years, off and on but I've yet to get far with it.
I'm 66 years old and I don't have access to a teacher. I'm married with children, but no one else has Islamic knowledge enough to listen to me to check my accuracy. Do you have any advice for someone like me?
I'm a revert by the way. I've been listening to scholars to try to make sure I'm reciting it correctly to the best of my knowledge. I'm enrolled in Tajweed classes as well for many years. I loved this video. Shukran Jazakalamullah Khairan!

      1- Using a single Qur'an, not changing the Mus-haf
2- Learning from an experienced teacher (the more the experience the better as they are better equipped to point out mistakes)
3- Memorization should be everyday, breaks cause reduction in enthusiasm and Hifdh
4-Repetition. Reciting an ayah 20 times while looking at the page, then reciting 20 times looking away, if a mistake is made, step 1 will be repeated, then connecting verse 2 (after doing as above) too 20 times
5- Memorization should be from Naas to Baqarah, as there's sense of accomplishment when one Surah is completed
6- If it happens that there's no time for new Hifdh and Murajah (that only one can be done) the Murajah (revision) should take precedence
7- Don't memorize a new portion if the recently memorized is not strong
8- Don't be sad if after completing the Qur’an for the first time, the Hifdh is weak as this type of Hifdh is usually known as the stage of compiling .

When you are memorizing the Qur'an then start from Surah An-Naas to Surah Al-Baqarah, and when you are doing Muraja'a (revision) then start from Surah Al-Baqarah to Surah An-Naas.
I hope that's explains well, in shā’ Allāh.

    1) Same copy of Mushaf
    2) Memorise must be under a qualified teacher
    3) Memorization must be daily, consistent & continuous.
    4) Repetition is the key
    5) Start memorization from surah Nas to Bakarah but Morajah from Bakarah to Nas
    6) If less time to memorisation, then do your Morajah instead of memorisation new lesson
    7) Don’t move to one to another memorisation
    8) Don’t feel heart broken if first time memorisation the entire Quran is weak. Don’t worry.
    9) How much a student memorise every day, it must depend on the student’s capability. Don’t increase more than 2 pages. No competition , no race.
    10) Similar Ayats : how to differentiate between those Ayats?
    Method: 20/20
