This was a well written hip hop song Vakasa, one I enjoyed a lot. What impressed me was the diversity you have presented in each of your songs, this one no exception. I think it gives you the opportunity to express yourself with different perspectives and ways of thinking. Yet you still remain authentic and connect with us the listeners.
My thoughts are that your song conveys how the big wigs in the industry, in a lot of ways portray what we feel society has become. For one thing it lacks empathy, it's cold and very unforgiving in a lot of instances.
The industry are not interested in artists who commit years to honing their craft and to providing music with a message. For if that message can't line their pockets, then they will be discarded as quick as the blink of an eye. I think music is now about the visuals and the image of the artist, rather than the music being showcased in its purest form. And to make it today, the artists will readily sell their souls to the devil. It's just another reminder that all integrity and honesty has been lost, where the industry will continue to exert their control by abusing their power of authority.
The mentality of the big wigs in industry can in ways I think connect with your past, and
the lack of support for your hip hop music. People saying your music wasn't like the other on trend rappers and that you wouldn't have success. You refused to focus on that past and its negativity, moving forward with your spirit and passion to write creative hip hop music. Music with a message that uplifts, one of positivity and goodness. As opposed to a lot of rappers who write and perform meaningless lyrics that are purely dark, hateful and often promote negativity and aggressive behaviour in its listeners.
By being independent you are saying to the industry, that you won't allow them to pigeon hole or confine you. For you have the skill to stand up and be accounted for. I say "yes you do"!!!
