December 15, 2023: Just bought 2013 SRX FWD - 142,000 miles. Took to Caddy Dealer and had them do bumper to bumper diagnostic. Came back with laundry list... Tie Rod End loose, Battery bad - corroded terminals and leaking... Front brakes almost metal on metal, four electronic Modules way behind in revisions and coolant system needs flush and clean... $3300 total estimate... Brought home and checked battery compartment. Battery tagged 11/2022 and minimal corrosion, so cleaned up connections - amt paid: $12 for a terminal cleaning tool. Then costed out doing the tie rod ends, brakes and alignment: For me to do - $394 (parts and tools needed to accomplish job) plus would then have to get alignment (~$100). Local (reputable) shop will do all, including coolant flush for ~$600.00. Leaves me with the modules programming and... everything currently seems to be working fine, so, FU Cadillac Dealer... I also found battery compartment cover (which also houses the ECM) damaged... clips all broken off. So, ordered a new one ($29) and will install myself. Also replaced the windshield wiper cap and got a new cover for the rear windshield wiper, along with new hood nozzles for the front washers. Otherwise, car is in great shape, rides amazing and everything works as should. Have not heard any clanking or rattling from the timing chains and am quite happy so far with the beast. Black on black and looks amazing. Even the headlights are OK. Paid $9999.00 and think I got a deal! Stylin!
2014 200,000 miles and the biggest repairs were a control arm and a wheel bearing. Pretty remarkable car, and probably the single best SUV deal available right now. Incredibly undervalued
Have an 11 SRX, Drives really nice. Just changed the hub bearings on both sides at 130k miles. Regardless of what the bottle says, change your synthetic oil every 5K miles🙂.
Put about 300 miles on it so far and love it! My only concern is there are so many bells and whistles on this thing that I will not be able to fix myself as a shade tree mechanic. Mostly interior things. But overall drives just like my 2021 Denali Canyon.
Where do I begin………. My wife and I bought a 2011 SRX4 in October 2020. It only had 34,280 miles on it so we bought it from the local Cadillac dealer and purchased a 2 year extended warranty……which was THE best decision I’ve made. Within the first year of ownership the sunroof clogged and blew out the back auto liftgate. That alone was an almost $3,500 repair. I only had to pay $200 for the sunroof repair guy to come out and unclog the drains. The next issue was with the sunroof shade. It got so wet that it came off its track and started buckling so that had to be replaced at over $900 out of my own pocket. THEN, the navigation screen wouldn’t go down and turn off after I turned the car off and opened the drivers door so that was about another $1,700 that the extended warranty took care of. Then the drivers power window stopped working and that was another relay switch repair at around $1,300 cost that the extended warranty paid for. Then the warranty expired when I started noticing the carpet on the drivers side was wet! Soaking wet! Come to find out there’s 4 drains for the sunroof. 2 up front 2 in the back. You’d think that the first time I got this fixed that the repair guy would clear and clean all of the drains but NOPE! He cleared the back drains that blew out my rear tailgate and left the front drains partially clogged and unattended to so I had to get that fixed because it also blew out the electronics under the drivers seat and that repair was well over $2,200. My tire pressure sensors went out on the front 2 wheels so I got that fixed then all of a sudden my check engine light started coming on intermittently over the next month. The remote start stopped working so I’m thinking “now wtf is wrong with this thing!” I took it in 5 days before Christmas of last year and the dealership called me up the following morning and said “I hate to tell you this but your timing chain needs to be replaced!” I’m thinking to myself “how bad can it be?”………………..it was a $4,458.18 repair!! I was done! I wanted to drive that damn thing off a cliff, cut my losses and get something else!! But the damn thing only has 52,300 miles on it! I love the SRX. It rides and handles really good it has a great 5.1 surround sound system in it but I’ve got to sell the thing and let someone else pay the repair bills. I’ve kept up on all of the maintenance but I just think this thing was built on a Monday morning when the GM mechanics were sobering up from the weekend! I hate saying it but my dumbass bought a lemon!
So sorry to hear you had such trouble with your 2011. My 2012 is starting to have other issues (103,000 miles) but I really like the car and want to keep it for a few more years. We’ll see how it goes….
I'm not saying. I will never have problems with my 2016 Cadillac. But I love it very much. I have not had any problems except the heated seats don't work but the touch For the heated seats comes on as if it does want to work. So I will take it to a shop but. Keep in mind let God is the one that Enabled me a "green" light to purchase this car and I am very grateful! Learning to put God first in any financial endeavor is a must!
Thank you for this video! I'm so tired of having a car payment and seriously considering buying a well used vehicle (10+ yrs old). This has been on my radar for awhile and I just came across a 2014 Cadillac SRX, 109K miles, 3.6L V6, FWD, for $8K. I'll have a mechanic check it out before I buy, but it sounds like it could be an awesome deal!
Great video. Thanks a bunch. I have a 2010 SRX that's on her last keg.... it's 2024, so I'm blessed for 14 years. I really love this car, so I'm looking to get a 2015/2016 SRX. Will definitely make sure the issues you listed are not a problem. Thank you so much.
Had my 2012 SRX awd for two years. Timing chain replaced, crank shaft position sensor replaced, AC compressor replaced, low resistor for the AC fan(fan kept running after engine shut off) and I’m hearing a squeaking noise in my suspension that needs to be checked. Paint is chipping on the hood and around the windshield which is honestly my biggest complaint lol. Other than that. This car is pretty great. A lot of people who get in it think it’s newer than what it is. Got about 142k on the clock. Plan on running it into the ground.
You have to remember, like everything else, as it gets older problems arise. It also goes with where you live as well, that adds problems, like rust due to road salt.
I had a 2014 srx that got totaled. So I bought my 2013 SRX Fwd luxury model last year and I have to say it’s a solid ride . I really like the sport mode option in manual mode . MY only complaint is I wish I had the awd especially in the rain ,mud . Also definitely headlights suck buy new after market ones that are better. Oil those seals and clear those drains on the sunroof or it will leak if it rains a lot . The 2013 has room for spare tire in back but the 2014 and up don’t . 2014 was basically the same car besides few minor upgrades. I will be buying another again and hopefully the new xt5 because the are pretty dope .
The only problem with these other than minor are the prices the dealers charge for any repairs I suggest adding extended warranty for any car these days
I have a 2010 and everything that they say that could go wrong with it has gone wrong with it LOL but when it's all fixed and new parts it's really fun to drive knock on wood the only thing I haven't replaced on this car the timing chain. Basically everything else has been replaced transmission suspension stereo started going out so I kicked the amp underneath the dashboard ain't went back on and it went back off I took it apart and sprayed the fittings with electrical spray put it back in and we're off to the races again with sound LOL
Just bought a 2014 158k miles well priced replaced front wheel bearings… and lift gate driver side hydraulic arm then pump which coming from Charleston SC was totally rusted. Sea air exposure I guess but love the vehicle
Bought mine 2013 new. It has 110,000 miles. Followed the maintenance schedule in the manual. The items of replacement were batteries every 5-6 years, CUE Screen replaced (dealer requires complete unit - very expensive. Did it myself), tuneup can be expensive - did myself can take time, EGR valves should be replace at 100k or will burn oil, brakes last long time, tailgate strut needed replacement @ 85k, changed transmission oil at 97k but filter is permanent - so actually easier than engine oil change, positive battery cable failed after battery changed but new cables are copper not aluminum and plan on replacing headlights as they burn the chrome off of headlight reflector. Also, notice some Carbon buildup on valve stems due to Direct Injection. My wife has a newer XT5 and there is technology improvement in safety alerts, Apple CarPlay, more luggage room, and more transmission speeds. My concern with it is that is has deactivation of cylinders (3.6 V6) so may not be as maintenance free. Will not buy one with 2liter 4 cylinder - just too heavy and requires PREMIUM fuel.
Im about to pick up a 2012 of one of these for a really good price. I will definitely listen to that timing chain. It seems like it would be perfect for me especially since it only has 80k miles and its 8k with the only issue being minor hail damage.
