Those Dobyns rods are good for Bass BFS fishing. If you want to Trout fish, you'll want a rod with a softer, more moderate action. I learned that from experience, and many lost trout. When those trout start head shaking and jumping, that Dobyns will let them throw the hook fast because it just doesn't have the give of a more moderate action rod. AliExpress is a necessary evil for us USA BFS fans. You can find lots of good, inexpensive rods and reels to feed the addiction there... just waiting for them to arrive on the slow boat is a pain. The guy who commented above.. fishing discoveries has some great content on bfs. He goes all out with replacing bearings. Also, Rawr fishing is a kast king guru. I’m thinking that if I had another bfs set up, I could take all bait casters and maybe one ultra light spinning kayak fishing. One for bottom baits, one for moving baits, then my normal heavier bait casters.
KastKing hasn't released a domestic BFS rod yet but if you don't like Dobyns customer service you will definitely be happy with KastKing. You can buy a Zephyr rod through Ali Express to match the reel.
They ended up coming through, but it took months. I actually did just buy another BFS rod off Ali express. Going lighter this time. Now looking for a cheap reel.

Great video and info! I have only ever used the basic spinning open faced reel. I never am too picky about anything I buy haha.
