    My number one rule while down on a shot: If I have any doubt in the shot, second guesses, thoughts about missing, or feels wrong, stand up!!

      Yep, thats why i take at least one lap around the table looking at all options and reevaluating my 3 or 4 shot plan before every shot

    Best advice I ever got for focusing on the object ball instead of the cue ball; think of it like riding a bike, you don’t look down at the pedals to go forward you trust that the pedals will always be there, build that trust in your cue ball

    Thank you!! I think hitting the ball too hard is very common, it's hard to forget sometimes how fast pool tables are, and you don't need to force!!!

      I also see a lot of ppl hitting it way to soft and slow rolling everything. You still need to stroke the ball, even when hitting soft.

I was lucky enough to find you when I started my journey back into pool, approaching it like I'd never played the game before. You are always better to take the shot with confidence. You could try and play a safe and get it or not. Other player could come back and make the shot or play safe back on you with even a tougher shot than you had before. NEVER think of safeties or defense as your first option. You will always feel better losing if you gave it your best effort than playing a safe and then giving the other person ball in hand when you dont make a legal hit. I have seen it happen almost all the time that the person that starts the safety, ends up worse than they started. Always go with your first instinct and play with confidence. Back when i use to play, i had the force on my side. Some players will get rattled when they know you play fearless. 💪

    This helps me. Especially because I was the worst player at my local place at one time.
    When I'm down on a shot I think in my mind "they're gonna be talking about me tonight!" *In a good way lol
    That saying in my head gives me confidence on every shot no matter how hard.
    Now.
    It doesn't always turn out positive............ but u have to forget about those shots!
    *Now I remember when I started using it. I came back to win a Straight Pool match against a good player with some people watching.
    They actually were talking about me that night lol
    So I filed it away and started using it and that good positive feeling.

    Pocket speed is crucial not just for improving shot accuracy but to make sure your hitting the right spot on the cue. I can’t tell you how many beginners and even some intermediate players put inadvertent spin on a cue ball that negatively effects the roll especially if their back hand is not level or they are shooting against the rail.

    On that rail shot..that's something I don't like about Diamond tables, you can't hit them firm down the rails and pocket the ball, even when hit perfectly. I don't think a perfect shot should be penalized. -especially when trying to move the ball back down table.

  • @mjg1185
    @mjg1185 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you talk about the mindset in a tournament vs practice, do you mean you should just trust your intuition on things like shot selection and when to try to run out, or just when you're down on the shot?

    • @KingStibroz
      @KingStibroz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never make any decisions when down on the shot. No matter how fast or intuitive all decisions should be made before getting ready to play the shot.

  • @hotdiggitydog2684
    @hotdiggitydog2684 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well I play bank the 8 alot and comfortable with banking even in 9-ball I saw a cut back bank using full left on the 8-ball to get to the 9... and the safety u tried to show was just about a dead bank in the other corner these were all on the last set up you showed... some banks to me are easier then running down a rail... I don't know why that is tho cuz everyone says banking is harder then cutting.

    6:15 technically if u were trying to miss it and u made it you actually did miss, therefore it makes even more sense, if ur head at that moment you were deciding where to shoot to miss and couldnt commit

    Why the running English on the 9 ball? Wouldn't a center ball hit be appropriate considering the lesson on the six ball was making a simple shot with less variables? I understand the physics. I'm guessing running English is more reliable than potential swerve or deflection coming from sliding then rolling with low ball English? Am I over thinking this?
