I have three: all used in my kitchen. They are my only cabinets except a circa 1900-1910 oak desk with flush drawers which I fashioned into a sink base (complete with fabric skirt). My cabinets are Sellers and I have one regular and one shorter possum belly. I also have a narrower 36” Diamond from Shelbyville IN which has a wood top. Placed next to my sink base and elevated on wood block extensions I screwed in, it extends the “ counter” top. I use the narrow cabinet et for dishes. The blue slag glass of my other Sellers is more unusual and I based my paint color off it ❤ That one is for baking and extra jars. I also have it PACKED with canned goods as I don’t have a pantry. The possum belly cabinet stores honey and tea/coffee as well as bottled water and the electric hot water. Love my unfitted old time style new kitchen!
Aww I love that! I would love to have an unfitted kitchen in an old farmhouse one day. I like being able to move my furniture around 🥰 I have only ever seen pictures of hoosiers with blue slag glass! I just know it is stunning!! Mine holds all my canning equipment, and I recently bought an old hutch to use as my pantry!
Hello again Haley ! I watched your video of your bathroom makeover in collab with Sarah ! WHAT A GORGEOUS HOOSIER ! I don’t know if I have seen an all wood one . I always see the ones with enamel… this is gorgeous ! Love the history of them. I knew a little, but it was nice to hear more. I’m in Upper Central New York State , antiques are everywhere with HIGH PRICES. What a great price on that one. The home my husband and I are in is my family home. You mentioned the “Folk Victorian style” and that is what this house is. It was built in the 1880’s. We have been in it for the past 19 years. Slowly making it more rustic/farmhouse. My Mother was more into all the new design styles. My Dad had laid all oak hardwood floors throughout in the early 1950’s , then “wall to wall carpet” came into style , so in the 60’s they got covered ! 😫. I remember them a little, the upstairs was left wood. So after we moved in, I took the carpet up and had my Dad’s hardwood floor refinished and they are gorgeous! Our average room size is 11x14, so many rooms, but small. Tall narrow windows, short ceiling upstairs. LOL!!! I love it because it is HOME and my husband loves it also! It is so interesting to see all you young ladies loving the same style as I do at 65 ! My Mother and I had totally different decor styles for homes. She had the ideal older home trying to make it look new…I had the newer home trying to make it look older ! LOL!!! Truly enjoyed this video !!!
Hi!! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video! I bet your home is STUNNING! 🥰 I loveeee the tall narrow windows!! And I know the oak hardwood floors that your dad laid are breathtaking as well. It seems like everyone in the 60s got them covered with carpet 😅🤣 i guess that was the going thing! And yes I get tickled how there is such a movement of people in my generation trying to get back to an older style of home as well as a more simple way of living! 🥰 I’m so thankful there’s been more of a push for it because I’m all about restoring older homes and buildings! I wish there were more in my area of Mississippi!
You have a beautiful Hoosier cabinet. I especially love that it isn’t painted. The wood looks lovely against your wall color. You could put spring flowers, vintage looking graphic, Christmas ornaments etc peeking through the flour window. This would be an unexpected surprise & so cute. Tfs
Those are such great suggestions! I didn’t even think about putting some fun things inside as an unexpected surprise 🤩 the fact that it was unpainted was one of the first things that drew me to it! It’s so hard to find one that’s not been touched by paint 💕
I have wanted one for the longest time, but sadly never got one or even seen one in person. You are truly blessed to have this and so cheap. It's so wonderful that you appreciate the history of this piece. I'm so happy for you!
That is beautiful! I was so blessed to get handed down a hoosier cabinet that was my grandma’s grandmothers! It’s all original wood and in such good shape still. Still has the flour sifter too. It was a wedding gift to me 5 years ago. I’m still so in love with it. Right now I’ve just been using it for storage and my coffee station.
How precious that you inherited yours as a family heirloom 🥰 I bet yours is beautiful!! I absolutely love the flour sifters. They are so sweet! Every time I walk by mine, i can’t help but smile 💕
Love your Hoosier. I got mine over 30 years ago when they were much pricier. It is all original with flour sifter and canisters and even spice jars. I still love it too. Enjoy it.
I definitely will 💕 it’s my favorite piece in my house. One of those pieces that makes my heart happy every time I see it! I can’t wait to decorate it for spring and bake on it ☺️
I love your Hoosier antique cabinet, it is beautiful. I love watching your excitement of your vintage pieces when you find them. Thanks for sharing this video with us.
I live in Moorhead MN currently. I found one at the antique store in our center mall.... love it . It was around $100 the inside is paint gray and outside is white with the enamel top. My brother is fixing one of the drawers for me . Mine doesn't have the flour sifter but my roll top works but sticks al little. I also have a vintage 3 other vintage metal cabinets that i found and one has the bread drawer... also have an enamel top table... and several black and white enamelware dish pieces. I love thrifting, antiquing and crafting...and I am looking for a 1920s style home to put my treasures in... i love your finds and what i have seen of your home and channel so far.
Thank you so much! That’s so sweet of your brother to help fix yours, and I bet your enamelware collection is absolutely beautiful. The roll top is one of my favorite parts of a Hoosier so I’m hoping I can restore it in mine. Thanks for subscribing and sticking around 🥰
Congratulations on your cabinet! I had a Hoosier build by the Hoosier co. It was originally gray with floral decals on the doors, but had been painted white. It had an enamel top. We had it stripped and painted white and used it for many years until we moved to Arizona, and it just didn’t seem to fit with the houses out there. We did move back to Georgia, however and totally miss it! It was so handy. We used it to store desk supplies and other things we used on a regular basis. I was dumb and threw away our flour sifter, but it was still a useful piece.
Thank you!! And yes it’s so handy!! I’ve stored all of my canning supplies in it and still had room to store even more things. Maybe you’ll come across another one that is perfect for you and your space one day 💕🤩
Look for a food safe paint or coating to do the inside of the flour sifter. I wouldn't do anything to the outside. It you couldn't find anything you could possibly get a metal fabricator to make a insert so you could use it for what it was meant for. On the second draw it looked like there were cross cuts on the dividers. That probably had more inserts for silverware. You probably could recreate those. Beautiful piece of furniture. ENJOY IT!
Hi. New subscriber, here. I'm from Central Indiana. We inherited a Hoosier cabinet that belonged to my husband's grandma. It has the enamel top and we love it. Yours is beautiful, thank - you for sharing it. Love your videos!
I’m so happy you’re here! I LOVE the enamel on old Hoosiers. I think it’s so sweet and I love that they are sometimes trimmed in fun colors 🥰 I bet yours is beautiful!!
Love your Hoosier Cabinet so pretty & functional!!! 🥰 I’ve always wanted to purchase one but here in Alaska things are very pricey and hard to find!!! I haven’t seen one with all the pieces like yours!!! ❤️
Just saw th@. Mom did not have a Hoosier but had and old itches cabinet with flour bin, pullout biscuits board and it was painted white. My brother skipped the paint and put on a beautiful finish.yours is so beautiful I love it.
Hello you have a beautiful hoosier, I saw pictures on pinterest last year and i can't wait to find one. I'm from the province of Quebec, Canada, take care
You bought a beauty!!❤️ I bought one about 30 yrs ago which has the flour bin only mine has the enamel top. I “still” love it❤️❤️❤️. My favorite part is the, what I call the roll top part. Sometimes it’s kept down & sometimes it’s rolled up. I know you will enjoy yours for many years!!
Thank you!! I bet yours is beautiful 🤩 I love the roll top part. Hopefully I can restore mine so I can keep it down occasionally too! It’s such a sweet feature 🥰
So beautiful! My mom has a Hoosier that we inherited from someone. On hers, the top cabinets have glass, and the table top has some type of metal on it. I never saw it as a sturdy piece of furniture. It always looked fragile to me. I'm not sure if it's as old as yours or not.
Thank you!! I looked a quite a few with the glass in the cabinets! I think that’s such a lovely detail. I guess sturdiness depends on how it’s made and who it’s made by 😊 this one is solid wood and so so heavy. my husband had a lot of fun carrying it in the house for me 😂
Beautiful hoosier! I'm from Ontario Canada! We are building a house and I will have a nice pantry (6'x7') I was thinking about putting a hoosier cabinet inside the pantry to store baking supplies. I'd love to know if you get the flour sifter working and if it works well to store flour. I'm worried the flour would go stale.
Thank you so much for watching ☺️ I have had my hoosier for a little bit now, and I still love it! It has been great for storing my canning items in. I have yet to get the flour sifter working properly. I think it may have too much rust inside of it. I am still researching options for it though. For now, it is just pretty to look at 🥰
I’m new to your channel from North East Ky - Hoosier cabinets got their name because they were made in Indiana ( Indiana the Hoosier) the enamel top pulls out so you have more room to make biscuits etc I have my mother’s and I’m 70 years old
Would love to have one with a clean workable flour bin.I grew up with one, don't know what happened to it..Yours brings back memories only ours was white
Hi. I'm from Indiana. I'm going to restore my grandma's old Hoosier cabinet. Do you know if there is a way to clean the flour sifter so it can actually be used?

Hello from Nashville TN!!!! Hey Everyone 👋
Hi! I am so happy you are here 🥰
Hi. I'm from Indiana. I'm going to restore my grandma's old Hoosier cabinet. Do you know if there is a way to clean the flour sifter so it can actually be used?
Hi! I love that you’re going to restore it 🥰 I haven’t found a way to safely use it. I’m afraid mine is too rusted. 😢
Hello my name is Laurel I am from San Diego, California. Love everything vintage and antique.
Hi Laurel! Thank you so much for subscribing and sticking around! I’m glad to have you here 🥰 I’ve been to San Diego once when I was a child and would love to visit again some day!!

Thank you 💕
Is the flour sifter still food safe? I just bought a Hoosier and would really like to use the flour sifter
Hi! I haven't found a way to make it food safe and usable! I would love to use it but for now, it's beautiful decor!
You got a deal on your Hoosier - I got an unpainted one years ago and paid $775 for mine
I thought so too!! Most of the unpainted ones in my area are 600+. I’ve been searching for years and am so blessed to have gotten this one!! ☺️
Looks good
Thank you!
They need to make a comeback
I think so too 🥰
