Exit the app. Press and hold the app icon on your phone screen, like you would if you were removing the app. The remote start and door locks will be included with the app options to uninstall and remove. I found it by accident when the app notification annoyed me to the point of wanting to get rid of it.
I see start, lock and unlock options when I hold down the app icon but they do not populate on the app after I select any of them and pressing them does not seem to start, lock or unlock our 4Runner. The mystery continues. I thought I had a breakthrough!
I just bought the XSE Prime with a premium package. In the app (iPhone) there IS NOT the Lock and Unlock feature. If you want it, you have to hold down the TOYOTA app icon like you are going to move it around on the screen. Inside there you will see LOCK and UNLOCK. Why it isn't in the app I don't know.
I have a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid SE. There is no remote start/lock option for the vehicle in the app. I don’t understand why a brand new hybrid with non-basic trim level doesn’t have this capability?
Would be nice if Toyota could put out a concise list of which vehicles the app works with. For instance can you use these features (with a paid or trial account) with a 2023 Corolla LE , or is it for use with only more expensive trims and models. I have seen so many asterisks and footnotes I am not sure what is what.

For the price Toyota should add more functionality such being able to operate your windows remotely and schedule service with your Toyota Dealer of choice.

My "opinion" is the key fob will still work because it uses a radio signal from the fob but the app on your phone wont work after the trial/free period because they wont relay the commands to the trunk for you any longer.
My question is when the car uses auto start and is currently running, is the car technically locked or unlocked during this time? I never know whether I need to press to unlock the car before opening it, I don't want to set off the alarm but also my car then shuts off when I open the door to get in even though it was already running. Then I have to start it again. But maybe if I try just opening it then it will continue to run. Or does opening the door either way shut the car off?

Does this app work with a vehicle that has an after market starter? I have only gotten this app to work once on my 2020 RAV4 TRD. So annoying to have a feature we cannot use with any consistency.
Can you change the run time to something custom or does that have to be done by the dealer? 10 minutes isn't long enough for the harsh Minnesotan winter especially when it is late January and -40F. I put a deposit on a 2022 Tacoma trd off road.

Automatic engine shutdown occurs after 10 minutes, but the vehicle may be remotely started as many times as you wish for an additional 10 minutes. After 20 minutes of total operation, however, the vehicle must be started manually to reset the remote engine starter. We hope this helps. ^JR
can you imagine - the owner sets a MILE LIMIT on you (25 miles 4 instance) and you hit a brick wall, or is it an ejector-seat action, or does the lady's voice come on and yell at you progressively louder "Stop driving the car, you've reached your 25 mile limit, STOP DRIVING THE CAR. Same boat, remote start just stopped working, never any mention that I had to purchase an app, I feel like this is a bait and switch and really shady by Toyota. I also feel like there is a way around it in the 2018 because mine worked until my battery needed to be jumped, then it stopped, changed FOB batteries, disconnected battery, however did you know if you hold down the audio button and turn your lights on and off 3 times it brings up some kind of service menu, I was afraid to mess with it too much but I feel like the answer is in thee somewhere.

Not sure if it will work, but just read where some said it doesn’t work on their US vehicle either. Then a lady said to do the following: Click on the Toyota App (as if you’re going to delete the app.). They said the start/stop features and etc. are listed as an option. Strange area to me to have that feature there, but who knows. I tried the above to see if it works, but my 2023 Cross XLE has the feature on the app, so it didn’t work for me. Maybe it will for those who don’t have it on the app. Really hope the above works for you.

My wife has a aftermarket vehicle starter that does a million things more than this app. I have it and it does nothing extraordinary. I would have thought that Toyota would have spent more time with better features. Open and shut windows, access vehicle w/o car shutting off ( I have the FOB on me).
I bought 2022 Toyota Corolla cross Xle. And I paid aftermarket is for special service vehicles. Some dealers make it mandatory, where I got my car does it . But it’s just for take your money.

I agree especially since they push and force the consumer into buying their “package” deals. Which is crazy if not all features work for your vehicle.

can you imagine - the owner sets a MILE LIMIT on you (25 miles 4 instance) and you hit a brick wall, or is it an ejector-seat action, or does the lady's voice come on and yell at you progressively louder "Stop driving the car, you've reached your 25 mile limit, STOP DRIVING THE CAR. STOP DRIVING NOW - NOW STOP.....???? The car is programmed to stop after 25 miles - or what ever the user set it to. It's just a notification but I want the ejector-seat option. lol

Same boat, remote start just stopped working, never any mention that I had to purchase an app, I feel like this is a bait and switch and really shady by Toyota. I also feel like there is a way around it in the 2018 because mine worked until my battery needed to be jumped, then it stopped, changed FOB batteries, disconnected battery, however did you know if you hold down the audio button and turn your lights on and off 3 times it brings up some kind of service menu, I was afraid to mess with it too much but I feel like the answer is in thee somewhere.

I have a 2021 Highlander with the remote start feature. However, whenever I use it, it gives me an error notification (Remote command failed. Please ensure the vehicle is not in use...). However, it does successfully lock and unlock the doors via my iPhone app. Anyone know what the issue might be?

Not sure if it will work, but just read where some said it doesn’t work on their US vehicle either. Then a lady said to do the following:
Click on the Toyota App (as if you’re going to delete the app.). They said the start/stop features and etc. are listed as an option.
Strange area to me to have that feature there, but who knows. I tried the above to see if it works, but my 2023 Cross XLE has the feature on the app, so it didn’t work for me. Maybe it will for those who don’t have it on the app. Really hope the above works for you.

With the exception of vehicle location (I'm assuming it will show location in case of theft), and auto start if you need to heat or cool off the vehicle; seems like the app is nothing more than a gimmick. Judging by the app rating and comments; I'll hold off before adding an app that will rarely be used to the phone.

2020 rav4 here, took them about 1/2 year to get it finally working properly. Had to take it into the dealer 4+ times just to get it fixed

@@asapictures3133 completely agree. I have had a number of Toyota’s and I won’t be coming back. My 2019 RAV4 doesn’t have the window/door lock buttons lit up. Just one button has a dot lit and you have to feel around for the other 7 buttons. Embarrassing! What did that save them? $2.
My wife has a aftermarket vehicle starter that does a million things more than this app. I have it and it does nothing extraordinary. I would have thought that Toyota would have spent more time with better features. Open and shut windows, access vehicle w/o car shutting off ( I have the FOB on me).

I bought 2022 Toyota Corolla cross Xle. And I paid aftermarket is for special service vehicles. Some dealers make it mandatory, where I got my car does it . But it’s just for take your money.

Its funny how not all dealerships know your car has remote start with the app. But when they install a remote start. The app does not work. Trust me. We find out the hard way.

You can't, at least in the 2023 Corolla when you are going to change the speed on the lever of the box, the car goes off if you don't have the key. Tap press the brake and then hit the power button
