I am a huge Pink Floyd fan since the late 60's. Seen them live several times. This song is awesome. Takes you on a journey that just gets more and more intense. The guitar run at 5:30 of your video is the most intense part of the song. I enjoyed watching you as you took this journey. Loved seeing another person become addicted to Pink Floyd.

Richard Wright’s organ powering through with the ethereal sound. RIP in Richard you absolute legend. Music lost one its finest when you passed away.

Real musicianship, meaningful, deep lyrics. Melody and key changes. Gorgeous. Lush. Transcendental.

There are some real gems on the Division Bell album What Do You Want from Me is powerful, Marooned is just sublime and the seamless transition between Take It Back and Coming Back To Life is incredible!

I never connected to that but all the other songs I did 1 way or another, I felt marooned was a bit on the nose (i get why its in there)

this!!!! this!!! THIS!!!! ❤❤❤ Poles Apart means so much to me as a song, piece of music, tool of introspection/recovery as is the whole Division Bell album... but this song.... this masterpiece of lyric, guitars, drums, imagination, longing.... truly cannot be outdone imo. I usually end up in tears every.single.time....

Love the ‘Hey You’ introductions in this song. Nice nod to The Wall’s ‘Hey You’.

It is very hard for me to not love any pink floyd. This came out in my 20's. I loved them even more and never stopped. They are non stop geniuses.

Hi Sarah , I think this is David singing about Roger [Waters] after he had left Pink Floyd . I remember back in 95 ish using this track to sample Loudspeakers when i was buying new ones .

Roger's ego got to the point he was Pink Floyd. The last album he was with the band The Final Cut was basically his solo album. He fired Richard then after he left the band he filed lawsuits to keep the other members from using Pink Floyd. He lost, and the band went on for a few more years. David has always been a class act about the whole thing, Roger not so much. Great reaction, look forward to many more.

The only way to find these gems is to listen to the album... Considered a deep cut by most radio stations. Most people listen to their favorite song, and that is the deepest they get...enjoying this I'm glad you played this song it's been a long time since I heard it brings back fond memories.

Yes, Sarah, you're right. According to "Polly Samson", co-author of the song and "David Gilmour" his wife, the first verse refers to "Syd Barrett", the co-founder, namesake, songwriter, singer and frontman of PINK FLOYD. The second verse describes "Roger Waters". He was also a co-founder of the band and after Syd Barrett left, was a kind of conceptual leader, bassist, songwriter and co-singer of PINK FLOYD.

This has been one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs, and there are so many to choose from so I refuse to pick one. This one gets overlooked a lot. I think it speaks of two former band members, Syd of course, but I think also Roger for different reasons. But it also speaks to ME. Of who I was a child, with that spark in my eyes, of how I have lost my way at times, and am trying to get back there.

wearing the inside out is iconic to me. It is one of the few tracks that Richard Wright sings a lot of it. I think Richard had a great voice.

The video thumbnail is wrong because the great Roger Waters was not a member of Pink Floyd anymore when this track was created.

Sarah, this entire album is another brilliant example of Floyd’s talents without Roger Waters. Should do this and the earlier album called, “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason.” Enjoy the experience….. 👈✨

The ironic thing is that Roger Walters become toxic and controlling within the band before he left. Unfortunately he’s gone off the rails somewhat with his political views

This is the second album they released after Waters left, the first was 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason ' which was released in 1988, if you haven't already heard it then I suggest that you do as with the rest it's a banger and you are missing out on another great album.

@@kennethcurtis6648 yes, but, it's the first album, which proved they didn't need waters, to make a great album, that's what i wanted to say✌️👍
