Creative with what we have....at home? A large Photograph out of smaller photographic prints? Maybe some double exposure goodness sprinkled in as well?

The real test is to get deeper in our own creative life. And people want to see a life different than theirs.

@@ChrisBrogan social media and the algorithm is just people. I think social media is a mixture of creators trying to make what they think people will like and people who consume social media being locked into loops based on their base preferences. I’m not really blaming social media as much as how people use it.

@@doublenegative4real I'll push back just a tiny bit. The algorithm is driven by the advertising company platform. It's not exactly a negative thing, but it means that the only thing that gets rewarded is those things that can be clustered and monetized easier.
It's hard when you start creating art for other people, and especially trying to earn likes. I say this from a few Decades of trying to unravel myself from that

@@ChrisBrogan sure the algorithm is attached to advertising, but advertising is only effective if people are watching ads served with content they like. The people determine a lot of what is seen still I think

it's akin to these restaurants who make these ridiculous, grease laden, gut bomb dishes only for social media. it's low effort, boring, lazy, contrived even.

It's a very difficult project. The key is to travel. See Frank Horvat's book 1999 th-cam.com/video/xi3tx2nPIaw/w-d-xo.html
He shot a picture every day through 1999 but travelled throughout Europe.

So agree, Will, with your rant. Not just on SM, and it’s not just recent either (I’m 68 and have been doing photography since I was 14). SM just kind of amplifies and magnifies those qualities you’re talking about. But it didn’t create the tendency to follow well worn paths.
As I would tell my students, photography is simple. But it ain’t easy. Looks easy. But it ain’t.
For me, now, I shoot strictly for myself. Love my I-2, love the “old”stock Polaroid film, love going out when the mood strikes, and taking the photos that have the potential to stimulate me.
I like a lot of your project work here, and enjoy you sharing your thoughts and process. They strike me as being genuine (and I mean both).
    Thanks!
