Judge Mathis gets more and more difficult to watch and is really abusing his power. The first verdict was ridiculous. He just kept attacking the mother without letting her speak. The teacher was incredibly smug, and really didn't seem to care about the kids he teaches. Also, how spineless does one have to be to escape out the back door just to avoid talking to a parent, and then blame her when he falls trying to escape. I still can't believe that Judge Mathis didn't take him to task for that.

Judge Mathis, I really like you but find it difficult to watch your episodes. You do not listen, and it is you who talk over your plaintiffs and defendants. White guy screams he feared a black person and you fall for it. It does appear true that the parents were negligent in addressing their son's behavorial problems but the teacher does not seem as though he was willing to go beyond his normal duties to help a student in trouble. He did not reach out to the student other than to punish him. White people either fear or simply to not want to engage with black people; be they children or adults. I am sorry that the defendant was made to pay for an injury caused by the stupid actions of the teacher.

The judgment was correct, she had no right confronting the teacher in a coffee shop. This has nothing to do with black and white, the parents should have sought help for their son before it got to the stage of confronting the teacher. So lets makes this clear. By law, the NYC public school Teachers, are not aloud to tell the parent that their child needs to be evaluated. unfortunately some students, fall through the cracks.
Part of that problem is that, some teachers will handle, label, and identify the child's behavior as being, mischievous, not listening etc.
a lot of children that needed mental evaluations, never were tested.
Being unaware of the underlying conditions, the teachers are causing the child to be, automatically stereo typed as a difficult individual.
This can make the child feel angry, confused, afraid, isolated, picked on, and or, bullied. especially, when the child with a mental disability is being bullied by an adult.
This can open up the window for multiple issues such as, the child being bullied by his, or, her, fellow students or, becoming one.
Due to the teachers failing to realized that, this could be a mental disorder, that teacher is actually making it worst because, it causes a disconnect between teachers, students, and others.
Now that student is being mistreated based on the teachers assumptions. Instead of being treated as a child with a mental disorder.
Because of that experience. I had my third son evaluated before he started school.
He was premature. He was born at 26 weeks. He had developmental delays, comprehension disorders.
He was in regular Ed. He began school with an IEP.. (Individualized Education Program). Which is based on the special education that an individual needs.
I had the psychologist communicate with his teacher. It went very well.
The reason why I did that was because, I wanted the Dr. to hear my son talking during class. because my son wouldn't answer the Dr., he assumed that my son couldn't talk. So he was trying to diagnose him as non- verbal.
My son was able to talk since he was 1. He was very sweet, shy and timid. he just didn't want to talk to everybody.
In school, he was known as that sweet, timid, and shy , kid.
When he started second grade, at the beginning of the yr, I got letters home about his behavior everyday about him being hardheaded and, not listening.
It was alarming, and, We were puzzled. my son is the type that get hit by a another kid, and won't fight back. Even if we told him too, he still wouldn't hit them back.
He was in regular classes but would get taken out of class for speech, and , OTP then returned back to class.
. Come to find out. those two teachers never bothered to read his IEP
So they were mistreating my son based on assumptions.
My son teacher was a special ed teacher, teaching regular Ed. She still treated him as if he was a bad child.
During the meeting, the Asst teacher said to me that, the therapist was bringing him back to class. and on her way out, she commented on how sweet and well mannered my son is. My is very quiet he doesn't talk much.
The teachers responded, he doesn't behave that way here. He doesn't listen, he don't follow directions etc.
The Asst teacher said that the therapist told her that its because he has a comprehension disorder. You can't give him too much information at one time. if you do, he'll regress.
She said for example, you tell a kid, do this do, this, then do this and its done.
For my son it had to be one "do this" at a time. Then you wait for him to process that. Then you give a little more.
So in order to get the best results for the child, we need both. the parents and, the teachers.
    I hope this help.
