I first saw them in Blue ridge Ga.Mike was just a skinny teenager, but that bass voice!!!! Took hold of me ,and now at 89 yrs I'm still taken by it .Not only the voice of but the God in him is so real. I love all of them Best quartet ever,!!!!!!
It was great to see and hear Roger Fortner on lead guitar, and I believe that was Dale Jones on the steel. Those two, along with Martin, and Jack Laws, on bass, played some of the best Gospel accompaniment, intros and turnarounds, in Southern Gospel music, during the 70s, with The Inspirations. I will never forget some of those intros, especially to songs like; I Do Not Walk Alone, I'm Bound For That City, Touring That City, Longing for Home, Jesus is the Best Thing, and many more.
Of the reunions this my favorite. Troy was there as was Chris .Only Jack was missing. Ronnie was their as was Eddie. Archie and Mike along Martin and the other musicians were there.
This brings back so many childhood memories. First saw the boys at Ogle's Restaurant in Gatlinburg in 1983, and I followed them around for about 20 years. My favorite era was Archie, Troy, Eddie, Mike, and occasionally Jack "The Old Bear Hunter" Laws. This is priceless!
Great post. I gotta say this; All the Inspirations were and are great singers, and had that distinct Inspirations harmony and sound. Troy Burns is one of the purest, and most accurate lead singers, I have heard. He doesn't get real fancy, but he doesn't have to. His voice is just always THERE, and he makes the harmony ring. His range is extraordinary. He could have sung outstanding bass, if he wanted, and was their original bass. I am saying all of that, partly because I feel he doesn't get enough credit for helping get the Inspirations on the national scene, in the beginning, and early 70s.
Thank you so much for posting this. It's amazing how the sound of the Inspirations never changes including the Young Inspirations of today. The Inspirations have always been my favorite gospel group since they first came out and I have almost all of their LPs.
Over many years I've seen all of the inspirations except Chris Smith. Can anyone tell me what years he sang with them? Was it when Eddie was studying for the ministry?
Praise God yes it is still and always will be The Blood of Jesus Christ that brings Victory to me you or anyone who will Repent of their sin and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their own personal Savior. I done that over 29 years ago! Was Saved by Grace Born Again and yes Washed in the Precious Blood of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Are you Saved? If you were to drop dead today we're would your soul be? Heaven or Hell John 1:12/Mark 1:15 John 3:16/Luke 13:3+5 John 14:6/Matt 25:41 There are terrible consequences for those who reject Christ as Savior! Luke 16:19-31 And Blessed consolation for those who Receive Christ as Saviour! John 14:1-3
Keep in mind that home video/audio technology in the 80s was not what it is today. I’m just thankful we have any footage of this great reunion concert, regardless of audio quality. I’ve heard much worse quality than this from home recordings.
@@brandenblackwell9116 That's a good way to see it, but I am unable to listen because the audio is not a direct feed. In the 80's a direct audio feed would sound great, & did sound great, even with 80's home video/audio technology, therefore I'll just watch it.
@@martinsimmons5668 It's your choice, your loss!😕😕I have seen you post this argument before, and I have concluded that you simply want to display your "superior"knowledge. No one cares about that, we just love to listen to the precious message and enjoy the music, as it is.

Wonderful group, great concert! But your audio is awful! Un listenable! Horrible audio! Why did you even try?
