I have heard memes on Gandhi back when I was in school. My father during his childhood days had memes/jokes on Gandhi. At a time when Gandhi’s respect was ultra pro max. I myself have huge respect for the guy and so does my father but to keep him out to memes is just not possible. No human whatsoever he/she might have done cannot and should not escape the comic elements which light up our lives. There is no angle of Godse (Gandhi’s killer) or politics in it. Even Godse has memes on him.
Making memes/jokes on a person is not disrespecting him/her. Especially when he/she’s buried 6ft under. In Gandhi’s case smoked 💨 and blown.💀 💀 It’s just Indian culture. You need to live in India to understand it. There are certain boundaries which people don’t cross example religion. But tbh in school Hindu kids used to make jokes on culture and Hindu religion as well. It didn’t mean that they disrespected the culture or religion. But it’s always give and take. If you make a joke that I think is too far then I too have the right to make a joke offending you😶😶It’s just a way to keep things casual in life.

Any person who had studied the freedom movement properly can never hate Gandhi.
But unfortunately Majority of Indians had not studied freedom movement properly.

I am a UPSC aspirant. Mai bhi is field me aane se pehle Gandhi ji ko koi khas credit nhi deta tha freedom ke liye. But is a field me aane ke baad.... properly history ko padhne ke baad I realised that Gandhi ji did a lot for our country and he deserves to be the Father of our Nation
