I'm here screaming "Fantastic!!!!" and tears are coming out of my eyes, at the talent these two are showing, and there are only 2 comments and only a handful of thumbs up, here??
His intonation is out of this world not to mention he's singing a bass line then goes into double time and then instantly switches to a falsetto solo and still is perfectly in pitch.
I first heard this song for a jazz class about how singer could work with pianist on improv...it blew my mind and open me to new horizons..will never be able to sing like that, but ...if I love jazz and still into music it is also because these heroes! thank you!!
It's because people are fools and don't like to give music that isn't prepackaged manufactured drivel a chance. This song is incredible- listening to Bobby launch into that double time bass line at 2:13 and then keep it up until his solo almost a minute later... freakin' ridiculous. One of my all-time favorite albums that is pretty much completely unknown to most people.
@luke2thab I like Marcus Miller too, the first time I heard him on my Miles Davis' "Tutu" album, and i loved his playing. To me musicianship does not have to be related with how many musicians you play, but with how you express yourself articulately and emotionally.
@luke2thab That, is one beautiful song, from both a songwriting/musician perspective, and from a listener perspective as well. No, I'm not getting mad at all. I respect everyone's music taste. I'm not much into funk, besides the fact that I've been a huge Level 42 fan since the mid '80....I consider Mark King to be the best slapper around and among the best bass players in the planet. I like them because they have shown good songwriting skills, and not just technique.
Highly unlikely in my opinion 1. Bobby Mcferrin is fairly well known, even to people who don't know his name ex. Don't worry be happy 2. To copy his style you need insane vocal techniques, if some hack can copy it, they're actually a really good singer and will most likely come up with his own stuff
i'll never take seriously anybody who clicks on a video then makes such a comment. it takes energy to click on the vid. all you had to do is not click on the vid, and take the time to comment, then you could convince me that you believe that this is not music.
someone teach me to appreciate bobby please. damn, he sounds like that wycleaaf jean in We Are The World damn... I like Chick's playin so much though :)
Why does there have to be confrontation right on top? Vote it down, please. Who wants to know that people have personal rants? I'm just here to listen to the beauty.
sad part is that someone is going to hear this and take advantage of the fact its unknown, and immitate his technique in a pop single, become famous and everyone will think that person created it.
to all the people that I pissed off I was talking about radio bands make all the money and they suck. man every time I go on youtube and watch video there is always that one person that says somthing stupid. Im not that guy sorry to all of you that I pissed off I didn't mean to sound like that. I took lessons from mark lewis a great jazz player. And have full respect for people like this. again sorry.
@luke2thab Only in YOUR opinion, and not in the opinion of many listeners and musicians. If you consider prog "soulless and texturally lacking", listen to Genesis (until their Duke cd), listen to Marillion, listen to Spock's Beard, Flower Kings, Yes....I have no idea what prog you have listened to, to have such an awkward opinion on it....
shit man I didn't mean Him I ment all the crap on the radio. just read my own post and I didn't word that right all. sorry to everyone on this page that read that. I love bill evans, joe pass, and all this stuff.
And I don't care if i get flamed for this, but you do reap what you sow. There's a bad economy out there, because ppl illegally download, so in a roundabout way, they lose money in their own lives. Call it karma, whatever. It's very real. If there were no illegal downloaders and ppl respected the musicians, the overall economy would be exponentially better. However, you'll never get to find that out, if ppl keep stealing the music. It b easier 2 take neg. flippant comments if it weren't 4 stealing.
That was INSANE. I can't believe how much control Bobby has, and he and Chick mesh together perfectly!
That moment when Mc Ferrin sounds like one of best double-bass player just wow!
I'm here screaming "Fantastic!!!!" and tears are coming out of my eyes, at the talent these two are showing, and there are only 2 comments and only a handful of thumbs up, here??
In my humble opinion, this is a great example of a combination of talent and extraordinary technique. The two geniuses at work...
These two legends are the epitome of all that is wonderful in jazz-fusion... brilliant instruments , vioce and piano... I love you both !!!
yeah !!like... teaching us this is were voice and piano and collaboration can go, right?! cheers to you!
His intonation is out of this world not to mention he's singing a bass line then goes into double time and then instantly switches to a falsetto solo and still is perfectly in pitch.
So true! Two greats! Absolutely! 👏👏👏
Can’t believe I discovered this only today. My goodness, insane.

That Was Incredible!!!
astounding beyond words...

Did McFerrin start his career as a pianist? Could this be a reason why these achieve near perfection - certainly the feeling for each other?
My hat is off, dear sirs!
Play it again!

Someone has the lyrics ?
