      Thank you for these incredibly sweet comments! Not giving myself enough credit (and apologizing for everything under the sun) is something that everyone who knows me has mentioned to me at some point. My own mother has recently been fussing at me for that 😂. I am trying to stop doing that so much! Your comments really warmed my heart and I truly appreciate it! 💖💖 Thank you!!!

    @naynay3710 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    That turned out really lovely. You were talking about the photo paper you were using and not happy with. Have you seen the Grafix White Plastic at Joggles? I saw Myriam's Nature review it, tried it and I love it. You can use alcohol to even take all the ink off to start over, if you want to. Anyway, thought I'd mention it. The painting is really gorgeous! Your friend will be really happy! :-)

      Julie Lock Thank you so much 😊! Lol I do sell my paintings, but I am still waiting for that “lots of money” part 😂. The bottle came from a pack I got on Amazon. They are called needle nose applicator bottles or quilling bottles. There should be a link in the description box to the ones I order, but anything similar would work. 😃

    How do you make a larger picture with inks? Do you use. Canvas and if so, how do you prepare it?

    • @LorrieBrewer
      @LorrieBrewer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can use canvas. It needs to be primed with something like Kilz that is waterproof. I haven’t done any on canvas so I can’t really be specific. I am going by what others have said they do. What I have read is that they coat the canvas with a couple of coats of Kilz and let it dry good before they paint on it. I don’t know if you can get the same wispy results like that, but if it’s waterproof then you should be able to come close. I hope this helps some. I’m sorry I don’t have any personal experience with that!

    your art is beautiful - I am envious of the control you have with the air ... I have the same dryer as you - yet the cool setting seems very strong - I like the first warm setting - slower - but I wish it was cooler air. Are you doing this painting on the cool setting?

    • @LorrieBrewer
      @LorrieBrewer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you 😊! Yes, I use the cool setting almost exclusively. It does have a higher airflow, and it was a little bit of a learning curve for me, but now I actually prefer the higher flow over the slower settings. I guess it’s just what you get used to lol.

      I am going to be posting a video later today trying to answer some frequently asked questions. I go into more detail about how I hold and use the dryer in it. Keep an eye out for it if you’re interested 😃

    New subbie, that was amazing to watch, you are so clever the way manipulate the inks. Do you use any other brands of inks? X

    • @LorrieBrewer
      @LorrieBrewer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Ranger and Piñata are the only two I’ve used so far. I want to try Copic ink refills, since I have seen some wonderful results by other people with those, but haven’t gotten any yet.

    Beautiful! Can you do this with large sized paper?

    • @LorrieBrewer
      @LorrieBrewer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      maggienmollie You sure can! You can do this as big as you like. There was a little bit of a learning curve for me the first time I tried on bigger paper. There is just more space to fill so you need to make bigger designs with larger “wispiness”. Lol I can’t think of a good way to put that. 19 x 13 inches is as big as I have done, but I have seen some that are 2 and 3 times that size. You can buy rolls of yupo and cut off as long of a piece as you’d like. Give it a try! I got the 19 x 13 inch Kirkland photo paper from Costco to practice working bigger. It’s a much cheaper way to practice than the yupo! Hope this answer helps a little! 😃

  • @ruthinmanart4063
    @ruthinmanart4063 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I liked your video, it actually looked like you were using an ink pen at the end putting in the gold, which I think would work also... 1 suggestion for future videos... could you remove your hat please so the brim doesnt get in the camera...LOL thank you

    • @LorrieBrewer
      @LorrieBrewer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used an old brush that I cut most of the bristles off of to get as super fine of a line as I could. An ultra fine pen would probably work great. I haven’t even thought about trying that lol. Sorry about the ball cap. It’s a bad habit of mine lol. I’ll try to keep them off when I’m videoing 😃

    When I used the first sheet of paper from an 8.5"x11" Kirkland Signature photo paper, I had the same problem of ink absorbing into it. Another commenter advised that I try another sheet, as there is an extra sheet of NON-photo paper in the package. I tried another sheet and got the result I was looking for. Maybe you are having the same problem.

    • @LorrieBrewer
      @LorrieBrewer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so sorry I didn't answer your question sooner! I somehow missed it when I've been checking my comments on here. I am using a Revlon brand styling brush hairdryer with the brush attachment removed to move the inks. There is an Amazon link in the description box if you want to see exactly what it is, but any brand with a cool setting would probably work just as well. Yes, I use 91% or 99% isopropyl alcohol in the bottle. I am using a needle nose bottle to apply the alcohol so that I can control how much comes out a little bit easier. Again I am sorry for not answering your questions more quickly! Thank you for watching : )

    Beautiful ❤️ what percentage of alcohol do you use?

      I started out using 91%, but have recently switched to 99% because I was having trouble with moisture spots on my paper. Both work great though. It may just be humidity in the air that is my problem sometimes.
