"Kine" is kind as in "what kine(kind of) fish is that?" The red powder on the pineapple was Li Hing Mui powder (plum crack seed). If you are in the mood for a burger for lunch, I suggest "Pine Tree Cafe" and get it to go. Drive down to the beach right across the highway down to Kohanaiki Beach Park , a popular surf spot otherwise known as "Pine Trees," and you can eat there if there is an available spot. Volcano village also has one of my favorite Thai restaurants. Find "Thai Thai Bistro and Bar" right next to the Volcanoes National Park.
Next time for coffee try Kona Tea and Coffee Company on Palani. It is our best coffee house. Big Kahuna is very likely our worst restaurant in Kona town itself. The clam chowder is gray. Most of the food I had there the one time I went appeared to be Costco frozen microwaved (poppers). Crab cake were a ball of bread crumbs held together with egg. Fish and Hog is great. Your biggest mistake was not visiting Umekes.
I am also going to HiCo in Kona! My friend got me beans from there and they are heavenly. I can't wait to try out all of their iced lattes next week!! I am huge coffee shop fan, so I am so stoked to see the atmosphere there.
Helpful video, thanks! Just a thought but with the price of things getting higher, I'd personally like to know how much the various items cost. After all, cost is sometimes a consideration when planning day-to-day during a vacation.
FYI, A & M...K-i-n-e=local pidgin derivative of "Kind"...Paniolo=Pah-nee-oh-loh. As there is no "S" in Hawaiian language to denote multiples, usage depends on context. As local resident who travels infrequently, am much pleased at information in your videos. At least you tried...It's better to Try & Fail than to have Never tried at all...Mahalo
This video was rather lame and missed a lot of better places than the ones in town. The restaurants mentioned are good but on the Hilo side, one of THEE best places to eat is at Tex Drive In. It’s a hole in the wall type place with a great view and OUTSTANDING FOOD. Highly recommend.
By state/federal law, coffee labeled Kona coffee must contain, minimum...>25% Kona beans grown in Hawaii. As Hawaii is the only U.S. state to grow coffee, as well as macadamia nuts, prices are market-driven. Some Kona coffee brands include...Lion Coffee, Kauai Coffee, Maui Coffee, Molokai Coffee, Royal Kona, Mulvadi, Hawaii Coffee Roasters....among others

Madalyn was pregnant on this trip and we scaled back some of the dining we wanted to do based on how she felt/what she could eat.

To mention, I hit pause for a couple of the quick shots you had of the menus (but that was sometimes a bit blurry).
Thanks Jason, we have done that in the past and should probably keep doing it. Although prices are rising rapidly!
We need to work on including links to places in our description
Do you have more specific directions on the place you ate Broke da mount grindz food at?
Yea it’s called the Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area, about 5 minutes from the restaurant
@@AdamandMadalyn thanks!

Barely showed the food?
🤷🏻♂️🤷🏼♀️
Just came back from Hawaii. Very beautiful place but the food, not that great.
Depends where you go
Depends on your palate
please back up the camera, too close to your face when you bite into food.

We will have to check it out next time we visit!
how much was the cup of 100% Kona coffee? 7.00 dollars. Kona brewing company overrated

Sorry! Your table manners were so appalling that distracted me from the main point.😞
Cool
