      @@joethebourbonman good point. I remember a story about a guy who paddles out from NY and trolls for bluefin tuna. On his kayak. Alone. And he catches fish. He trolls rigged ballyhoo and goes way offshore. I would happily try open ocean fishin' in a kayak in Panama or Florida but not up north. But that's because I like the tropics and don't want to go to NY.

    I bought one of these from Sierra for $1200 right before Christmas. It is my first pedal kayak. I LOVE it! If anyone wants a pedal kayak but doesn't have $2000+ to drop on a premium brand, then this is your #1 choice at this time. Seastream has insanely good customer service. Mine came missing the drive and I called them up and they sent one to me 2-day air with no arguments. That one I got had a bolt torqued on waaay too tight and it snapped trying to take it out to install the pedal. They sent me another drive immediately again. Tip: glue the 3 rubber bumpers on the drive in place because they fall out easy and the drive will wobble more without them. Also, go over the kayak with a screw driver to tighten everything because some stuff is loose and the clip for the drive to hinge onto needs to be unscrewed and adjusted for fitting the drive. I got to the lake the first time and couldn't hinge the drive in and had to paddle back to my truck to get a screw driver to fix that. Otherwise I highly recommend this kayak.

    • @BakaRed77
      @BakaRed77 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Ron, great vid. I have had that exact kayak for a year now. Very pleased with durability, stability, tracking snd general speed. I had a nightmarish experience fishing a tiny Alabama creek after a bad hurricane came through. Rammed about 50 fallen trees head on because they had blocked the entire width of the creek! Rotomold held up perfectly! Wish it had some rod holder, tackle cups or slots in front of seat though. But overall a dependable pal set up fosho. Fun to be on the water with.

    I am 60 years old and I’ve never been in a kayak before. I’m still researching to see if I want to get a pedal drive or simply paddle. My concern is that paddling might be a little too physical for me after a little while. Should that be a concern and what method would you recommend for my first kayak?

    • @kevinvargason8835
      @kevinvargason8835 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could certainly handle paddling but a pedal drive opens up a lot more distance and water. Also you can control positioning as in forward and backwards while casting.
      If you are going to be in skinny water like alot of creek fishing then the pedal would likely just be in the way.

    Really can't wait to get into the kayak videos where you're in random obscure places that the mako can't go, its hands down some of my favorite content.

    Well I think I’m going to have to look into getting one. Having a boat makes it hard to want to try so different. But I would have to say that would be easier to do sometimes. Let’s Go !! 🧨🧨

    I agree, I would like to be able to raise the seat a little higher for a more comfortable peddling position. I have mine for about 2 to 3 years now. The peddle is a little noisy, there is a clicking sound when I peddle and it can be a little annoying. I wish it was a little lighter kayak but its ok. Over all I do like my kayak and recommend it.

    I have the same kayak. I bought 3 for me and my boys to fish out of. Have you found a solution to raising the seat a few inches? I’m currently brainstorming for a way to do it. Other than the seat height, I love it. We stand up in ours to fish all the time

    I love my Native Watercraft Slayer kayak, I don't have any issues when paddling it. Main reason I went with this kayak is the weight, at 62lbs I can get it on top of my SUV. Love pedal drives for fishing.

    Good review!! An easy thing to try would be to sit on a life preserver seat which might give you two additional inches of lift.

    Now you need a depth finder with live scope, maybe #Garmin or #Lowrance will hook you guys up, I have been shopping for the last few weeks looking at reviews, videos, going to big box stores playing with them, I'm leaning toward Lowrance, be great if you guys could do a couple videos around Brunswick ga, with the 6-8 foot tides,

    After getting a warning for undersized speckled trout I put the tape measure stickers on my poles so I didn't need a stick to measure fish!
    Really I kept undersized fish due to fishing both Georgia and Florida and for got which state I was in, thankfully because I was honest with the warden and he knew I wasn't trying to hide it from him he only gave me a warning , it could have been really bad!

    Loved your kayak review. Unfortunately kayak is too heavy for this wimp😎!
    I might suggest that you move the seat to where both knees have a bend in them. Noticed Brant has one leg completely straight. Not comfortable or efficient. (I do own a pedal drive
    kayak). Also I don’t have a dry suit yet so I don’t kayak in this water temperature(60’s). Look up cold water shock and please please stay safe out there!

    Seastream is an entry level brand for feelfree. Pedal drive is a little simpler, and so is the rudder steering. I actually like the steering on the seastream better. The company's customer service is second to none.
