Jack Charlton had the best collective group of players that Ireland has ever had. That squad was capable of getting to the latter end of tournaments not just qualify and that is why dunphy was so hard on jack and his long ball style of football. Kenny hasn’t got a very good squad now but he’s doing a very good job with what he has. At least they’re now trying to pass and play some football.
Jack is and always will be a Irish legend and a national hero but his style of play was horrible to look at. It was successful against the teams that liked to play from the back where the pressure force them into making mistakes but was eventually found out.

At last, an Irish manager allowing and encouraging his players to play soccer as it should be played.Great to watch after all we have endured since Big Jack had excellent soccer players hoofing the ball with a little success.
