I have used L’Oreal for years. I have never had a problem with L’Oréal makeup
I normally end up getting foundation at a high end store. The only reason I do this is because I find it difficult to find the right foundation without the help of someone to lead me in the right color. I have light skin and it is between rose and golden under tones. I would love to be able to purchase from the drugstore.
I am 79 years old so you can imagine how many foundations I have used but I found the L'Oreal true match about two years ago and I absolutely love it. My color is w3 and matches my skin perfectly. It looks so natural on my skin

I worked at a cosmetics counter and they taught us to always powder your foundation. When you are young it's fine. I have found that as you get older it highlights wrinkles. So, I don't care what people tell you don't powder your foundation. I found that it looks more natural also. Don't wear anything metallic or shimmery. Do not wear frosted lipstick or matt. Use satin or creamy lipstick. Lip liner is good as long as it's not metallic. It's really hard to find creamy eyeshadow that doesn't have glitter or frosted sheen to it. I use different color eyeliner pencils and keep the color close to my lash line like 2 cm thick. I use a little powder eye shadow over that, Matt shadow only. That's what I did for the older glam girls. If you want to highlight use a lighter concealer in the same shade just lighter. I wish L'Oreal didn't put fragrance in their lipstick.

The True Match is a workhorse of a foundation. I emptied the bottle into a bottle of Tiente Idole I had finished because it had a pump.

You can return at drugstore even if you opened and tried. Save you receipts and try in a timely manner so it’s not too far from purchase date. All drug stores do this so no money needs to be waisted. Shade match is difficult at drug store for sure. Best place to get drug store foundations is Ulta because you have the benefit of a cosmetic savvy person on the sales floor that knows the merch. Less frustrating this way. True match is the best !
FYI regarding L’Oreal for your viewers: Cat’s Eye Beauty just compared L’Oreal’s tinted balm to the new and very expensive Chanel 1 foundation and found a lot of similarities.

True Match N1 for me. Perfect match- no fragrance- light coverage- I use very little because I only need a little. For evenings out- it's buildable. I love it.

So helpful, thank you! I've been curious about the L'Oreal True Match Blendable foundation but hadn't seen any reviews on mature age skin. Your review was clear, balanced, and pretty much answered all of my questions! I also very much appreciate the 'control' type environment you used - natural light rather than a ring light, and in the same place/set up. Age perfect SPF 50 is my go to foundation. It has a nice subtle radiance with full coverage and I always use Eucerin SPF 30 or more under it. I've tried several more expensive foundations, but always come back to this one
I have used Loreal Pro Glow for years, it gives aging skin a beautiful radiance and it will not accentuate imperfections or settle into lines!

I loved this video! It's packed with great details with lots of different skin types considered. I learned a lot. I prefer high-end foundations--I had severe acne when I was young and couldn't wear many products from the drugstore. I always struggled to find the right shade and consistency because you can't try before you buy. Your video will make it much easier for women to find just the right LOreal foundation--so helpful, especially as some are tightening their budgets.
Completely agree on the Denature alcohol ingredient in cosmetics; also listed as Alcohol Denat; it is extremely drying for the skin; especially us with dry skin. Thanks for your reviews.

L’Oréal Visable lift is one of my go to for years because it lasts all day at work with no touch ups but Indont use powder anymore either so the Matt finish works well for me ❤

I'm so pleased that Age Perfect Tinted Balm made the top three. I discovered it about a month ago and I love it. I did not know about denatured alcohol, it explains why I don't like most of the foundations I've tried, I hate the dry cakey look as the day goes on. I used concealers to cover dark spots and the balm goes nicely over it. I'm 58, with dry skin, mostly clear complexion, very few wrinkles, so this one is a winner for me. It evens my skintone, I like to makeup my eyes and wear bright lipstick.

100% agree with the number 1. I use it in 3 shades with the lightest as my concealer. This is a reliable basic.
I dont' mind paying more for a good foundation. My experience is that they generally last longer and in the long run I'm not spending much more b/c there's no need to keep looking for something better, buying product after product only to be no happier than I was when I started looking. Having a foundation that I love makes the whole process of 'making-up' a lot less frustrating. As for the other products like blush mascara, lipstick, eye shadow, etc I can't see spending high end on those. And when it comes to skin care I will spend more for a product that is good for my skin, keeping in mind though that there are many good drugstore skin care products that do a good job and don't break the bank....a good moisturizer for day and one for night and a good sunscreen and I'm good to go. When it comes to cleansing my face I do a double at night, one to remove the make-up, and one to cleanse the skin. In the morning I wash my face with a clean face cloth and warm water.

Tamara! Thank you SO much for this video. I have been desperately seeking a new foundation since last winter. I turned 60 recently and the product I was using just wasn’t doing me any favors anymore. My skin has changed again. Anyway I’ve tried a few things and didn’t like any of them. Then I watched this video and went out and bought True Match Blendable foundation and I’m so blown away!!! It’s beautiful on my skin, blends so easily, and the finish is flawless. I’ve had it on all day and it’s still gorgeous! I’m so relieved to have found my new foundation. I’m glad you specified the dame spf and moisturizer with all the foundations. And I agree I never depend on my make up to help with built in skin care. I feel like all their foundation shades should be close and not that way off. I find that some of their foundations that pull matte does work well for me unless small amount of moisturizer with it. MKes me wonder if your able to find a pump for the foundation that has a dropper. I e never found it handy to have any foundation that has a dropper. I love the Loreal pro grow. And I enjoy having it in a tube. That way I’m able to ur the tube and scrape out the remainder of the foundation. after cutting it open I’m able to use it 5-6 more times. I’m glad you ranked the ones that worked for you and ones that did not. I’m glad you mentioned that you enjoy the tinted in a balm consistency. I’m glad you shared the last one true match. I’ve been wanting to try it. And since it’s been around for 15 years … it sounds like the ingredients is perfect and natural looking. I appreciate these types of videos. I found this very informative. I am 56 and had combination skin but have noticed in the last 5 years or so that my skin is getting drier. I loved your explanations about the ingredients as I wouldn't know what to look out for. I think your skin in this video looks very luminous. I'd love to know what your were wearing on your skin. For a very long time, I mixed equal parts of two colors of a Clinique foundation to get my best match. Over time either their colors changed or my skin did, and it didn’t look right anymore. I’ve been searching for a replacement ever since. Videos like this help me a lot. Thank you!
I still DREAM about their Infallible Never Fail 18 hour foundation (red pump top). I wore that daily for over 10 years until they discontinued it about five years ago. It still has high ratings on their website and people begging to bring it back ;). I’ve tried three other of their foundations since then, and none of them have the similar texture (I can use the adjusting color drops to change the shade a little bit, that’s not the main problem).
Thank you for this upload though - I may give another one of theirs a try :-) I currently use the true match luminous one a couple of times a week and it’s decent. Just not the sort of amazing coverage and adhesive wear of their 18 hr discontinued one.

You do the best job I've ever seen at good info research and side by side comparison. You give clear descriptions of the consistemcy, shades, feel, blendability, coverage, dry time, wear, everything! Making it easy for us to decide if it would work for US.

I got serious about makeup four years ago at age 50. I tried the Visible Lift and liked it at the time due to its blurring effect. My go-to drugstore until the serum foundation came out was Pro-Matte Infallible. I don't remember why but I didn't like the Pro-Glow one. I didn't like the 24-hour Infallible version. I didn't hate it but it didn't do much. At the time, I wanted full-coverage, cover up everything. Since then, my preferences have changed and my skills have increased. I might go back and try some of these again. I may have a different opinion. I do want to try the #1 True Match one, though.
I love infallible for oily skin. It is very similar to Estée Lauder’s camouflage makeup in a tube
I just got the serum foundation with hyaluronic and love it! Doesn’t settle in my lines. Long lasting. Looks natural. I like it better than my Estée Lauder
Great, informative video. My long time favorite, Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Light, has been discontinued so I am on the hunt for a replacement. Think I’ll give your first choice a try but you are so right about trying to match one’s shade with a drugstore brand. What a great video Tamara! Interesting that there are so many variables within L'Oreal foundations and also between what's available in the US and the UK. I completely agree with you about the True Match - I'm on my second bottle - but happily ours has a pump :)

I really like Tarte’s foundcealer in 27N. The ingredients are too small to read although it has titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. It has a pump and is great for dry skin!

Hi, late to view… my go-to L’Oréal is the Age Perfect Serum. II’m 53, tend to the dry side & find that it looks awesome, even in my nose creases, where practically no foundation ever looks good! Hate the shade range though, and they all lean too warm/orange IMO. Will have to try a few more of these though, especially that Age Perfect Balm.
Btw, I love that floral painting you’ve got to the side -and I love that you’re filming in natural light! Much easier to actually see what a foundation looks like when you don’t have a bunch of high powered light boxes making everything look good! I do wish you might zoom a bit so we could see the texture of the foundation on the skin just a bit better. But you earned a subscriber… love that you pay attention to ingredients, also a rarity.
Proglow is my staple for 10yrs. But just purchased the true match blendle and the age perfect serum. My high end staple Smash box Halo healthy glow.

Tru match seems to look the most natural on you. I’ve tried it myself, it’s not bad but I do prefer ITs cc cream. Most other foundations I’ve tried from high end to L’Oréal actually make me look older. You have a beautiful complexion and look amazing with little makeup.

Great video Tamara. I've been trying some samples from Sculpted by Aimee. I quite like their second skin dewy. The samples I bought were slightly too dark but it sat so lovely on the skin and was really flattering. It's an Irish brand so I'm delighted I've found a good quality foundation made by a fellow Irish woman.

deliver value. But I do use the L’Oréal also, putting on just a bit of makeup in the morning so as not to scare people at the gym.
( used to love revlon long wear but not any more -- same as you , 60 plus- does not work any longer)

Thank you Tamara for another informative and enjoyable video. I have both the tinted balm and the serum foundations from L’Oréal. I love them both but they’re both a little on the yellow-orange side. Because they’re so sheer it doesn’t really seem to be an issue, but I wish they would come out with more shades.
Strangely enough I’ve had better luck recently with drugstore foundations than the higher-end ones. I actually used up the ilia serum foundation but it was so greasy that I didn’t repurchase. The Exo one I bought at creedo was nice at first but it started looking strange in my skin after a while. I also bought a couple of stick foundations from bare minerals that just seemed to enhance dry patches. Maybe I’ve just had bad luck.
