Thanks for the walk through. I agree, the oven is handy we bought our van off the lot and it came with the Thetford grill and oven. I use the microwave mostly while on the road to heat meals in the middle of nowhere with our generator. So yeah I give the microwave the thumbs up.
Great viewing your kitchen as we’ve just bought a Journey Outback with same kitchen layout and after seeing this video bought the saucepans you recommend.....no handles sticking out. 👏
Thanks for such a good quality video with great ideas and information. I’m in the anticipation and planning phase whilst we await the arrival of our new JJ😆 Your tips will be invaluable. Cheers. Wishing you continued safe and happy travels.
Great video thank you! We’re about to take off in a couple of weeks as a family of four and I’ve been concerned about fitting all the kitchen items. My kids have allergies so we will be can’t eat out anywhere and need to take a lot of pantry items which are difficult to find in regular supermarkets.
The rule of thumb is double the fridge size for amp hours and double the amp hours for watts of solar. With ours we would be ok with a 218L fridge, 400amp hour of batteries and 800 watts.
We did! Just budget and timing. You would also loose some space with our design (has a lip). The container method isn't as dance as it could be, but it does maximise space.
This timing for this video is perfect for us, we have the same model van (2019 though) and we are literally packing it at the moment in preparation for our test run. We are not doing a big lap though - just road trips for us. I was just wondering if you have a toaster? And if so where you store it? It’s interesting some of the small differences from your model to ours, our top drawer is only big enough to fit the cutlery in!!! Great work with the video’s. Keep them coming.
Thank you! No toaster, we use the griller which is functional for toast. Not perfect, but toasters are big and draw a bit of current when free camping.
I have a hit about the oven if gas. If it does not work. Take of the control knob. You will see a small screw. Well it looks like a screw. Take it out. Clean. Put back in. It is the gas control for pilot light. It bleeds the gas off the ovens main gas pipe to the pilot light. When this pilot light is working it should after time heat the sensor to turn the gas on to the oven
They are fantastic and have been very durable. Find the links and detail here: www.todoingfamily.com/2019/11/tips-for-setting-up-a-caravan-or-camping-kitchen/
Another great Vid guys. I quick question regarding the use of gas. How long does the 2x gas bootle last for your family? Thanks for all the tips, safe travels as always...Kind regards from Brisbane
They are such a brilliant space saver, and we used them all regularly. They are available here: www.todoaustralia.com/gear/joseph-joseph-40031-nest-9-nesting-bowls-set-with-mixing-bowls-measuring-cups-sieve-colander-9-piece-multicolored/
I wondered the same - Harris Scarfe has this one www.harrisscarfe.com.au/Categories/Kitchen-%26-Dining/Bakeware/Mixing-Bowls-%26-Measuring-Cups/JOSEPH-%26-JOSEPH-Nest-9pc-Mixing-Bowl-Set-Opal%0A/BP_546360
Could always use more mate, but it works for us. As always, there is a balance. We make sure we pack up as we go, and the kids manage their stuff pretty well. When meal prepping we might use the kitchen table, and usually have the stove lid down if not yet cooking for extra space. We have a big van so might have a bit more space than others.
Judging by the map on your wall you are really close to us here. We live in Proserpine near Airlie. Are you guys stopping in the area? I know of a few nice places to stay around here
Been through! We stayed at the new free camp at Lake Proserpine and then Adventure Whitsundays. Instagram is live, TH-cam and FB a little behind. You live in a ripper part of the world!!!
The dam has only been opened for 2 or 3 weeks for camping too. The town pool is great being free along with the water park. We spend a fare bit of time there. I haven’t followed on other platforms other wise if it lined up with our roster I would of invited you all out to the farm for our normal weekend.
Good to see we're not the only family who has several bottles of tomato sauce open at once. And yes they belong in the fridge. Great video guys.
We work our way through it. Somehow we now have BBQ sauce in a tomato bottle now too. #sauceconfusion

Awesome, thanks for the vote on the microwave! And for sharing your setup.
Love your saucepan and frypan set. Brilliant the handles are removable.
They have done a great all around job for sure!
I’d love to see some cooking videos on the meals you make and /or your baking.
I love your sandles.
We have a jayco caravan 2021 model we have a 3 way fullsize fridge, love it
Nice to see well organised cupboards. Well done 👍
It's amazing the amount of stuff you can fit & along with that it's amazing the amount of stuff you don't actually require to get by.
We have a double garage back home full of stuff, none of it missed! (Ok, maybe the couch and big screen TV). :)
Great viewing your kitchen as we’ve just bought a Journey Outback with same kitchen layout and after seeing this video bought the saucepans you recommend.....no handles sticking out. 👏
Awesome, they are great quality and have lasted some pretty crazy stuff we have thrown at them.
Nice work...4wks 5 people...maximised space very well...
THanks guys! A year on and it's certainly helpful! I've got/done most of this, but you've sold me on the saucepans!
thx for sharing some great ideas. happy travels

Awesome! Are they herb pots on the kitchen wall there?
Great video thank you! We’re about to take off in a couple of weeks as a family of four and I’ve been concerned about fitting all the kitchen items. My kids have allergies so we will be can’t eat out anywhere and need to take a lot of pantry items which are difficult to find in regular supermarkets.
That is fantastic we could help. Good luck with the lead up and journey. We don't eat out too much, saves the budget!
Happy travels guys. Where can I buy the saucepan set?
the pumpkin and apples should be in the fridge they will keep longer
Cool thanks for the tips!
Thanks for watching!
Great Vid with good ideas . You mentioned the fridge was power Hungary , How much solar and batteries would you recommend for the fridge you have.
The rule of thumb is double the fridge size for amp hours and double the amp hours for watts of solar. With ours we would be ok with a 218L fridge, 400amp hour of batteries and 800 watts.
Well done, keep up the good work
Thank you Tony 🙌
Would love to know where you brought your pan set and mixing bowl set
love your kitchen set up just wondering did u think about having pull out pantry shelves eg metal ones so i will be easier to get to the back items
We did! Just budget and timing. You would also loose some space with our design (has a lip). The container method isn't as dance as it could be, but it does maximise space.
You add pull out draws you add weight. Better for treats
Have u though of swapping to a pull-out pantry ?

Great tips. Can I ask how have you stuck on the shelves in the kitchen?
Hi - what brand are your saucepans please?

Thanks guys! Much appreciated.
Love those pots and pans with the removable handle, where did you get them, may I ask?

Love following your adventures! Where did you get the blue crockery set from?
Kmart 😃👍
Hi Steph, where did you get the bowl set?
Another great Vid guys. I quick question regarding the use of gas. How long does the 2x gas bootle last for your family? Thanks for all the tips, safe travels as always...Kind regards from Brisbane
Thanks for watching! We get up to 3 months with our two gas bottles...used for hot water and cooking. We have a two way fridge so it doesn't use gas 👍
Your mixing bowls are amazing! Where'd you get them from?
They are such a brilliant space saver, and we used them all regularly. They are available here:

Hey guys , Did you guys end up making a video on 2way vs 3way?
Not yet...it's on our list!
Where did you get your map of Australia? Xx
This was an ebay job. Decal designs online. 👍
Hey guys.
Just wondering if you think you have enough bench space inside your Journey.
Love the vids, 👍

@@todoingfamily ah, helpful kids ! Now I know where I can make some improvements. Time for some whip cracking 😁
Haha, definitely. We keep on top of them as it gets tight for space at the best of times!
