Glenn needs to tutor sauce
Sauce Gardener has not proven that he can cover the other team’s number one all game. He’s two handsy, he’s too injury prone and he doesn’t like to tackle. He still needs a lot of work on his fundamentals and I’m hoping that Aaron Glenn can get him back to where he should be.. yeah it becomes 5 on 5 but you also lose a defensive back, which opens you up to big plays, especially by a TE over the middle.
Please stop saying the defensive line isn’t as important as defensive backs that’s bullshit and you’re making yourself sound like you don’t understand football. Best thing the Jets is play more 3-4 defense. Drive to Mason Graham, find a big body NT to put over the center and into the A gaps. This will force teams to play Williams and Graham. 1vs1 instead of double teams. If we can get to the QB within five seconds, and you have Sauce Gardner locking down WR#1. Then you’re cooking with fire.
You should learn to watch film for yourself. YOUR text reads like a person who is just repeating something he read by some else who does not watch film.
Will McDonald and JJ are not standup 3-4 LB’s… I agree about Sauce tho, he’s not ready for Glenn’s system. They need to work with him A LOTTTT if they’re gunna keep him on an island. Asked him to do it more often last year, and he was getting cooked. Too handsy as well the league’s finally keen on how overly handsy he is’

They’re both talented enough that they could drop back into coverage if needed.. my reasoning is that we have to stop the run. No matter what that is the Achilles heal of this team over the last two seasons. And now we have no CB#2 or SS .. possibly no LB if we can’t get Sherwood back

@ They can’t cover TE’s and RB’s. Doesn’t matter how athletic they are, it’s ridiculous to think it’s that simple… Sherwood most likely’s following Brich and Rutenberg. Shit Rutenberg is an absolute stud working with LB’s. With our current personnel, we’re gunna have to target Will Johnson if we’re playing Glenn’s system (which has been bottom 3 against the pass 3 different times including last year since he’s been a DC). We were weak against the run because we never addressed DT, and our safety play was shit. Idk why Joe thought Kinlaw and Solly could hold it down, but he was dead wrong. Good DT’s and middle linebackers can be found in later rounds tho. Losing Rutenberg was absolutely massive tho. We gotta stick to 4-3 with our personnel is what I’m tryna say. Quincy isn’t a 3-4 Middle backer either it’s not just on Will and JJ…

I actually would consider it but his value has diminished due to his tape. He holds every play..he can’t catch and can’t tackle…If we know that I’m sure the league knows it. But I would take a second for him but is anyone willing to offer a second? 🤷🏻♂️

Yeah, if you can resign Reed. If not wait til after the season, he’ll be going into his 5th year rookie contract, maybe you can package him and a 4th or 3rd for a 1st rd pick, or whatever it takes to move up and grab a QB in 2026 draft
