Focusing on the artist processes, including but not limited to their personal lives, takes away from the actual art. Do you like the sound you’re hearing? How does it make YOU feel. Attention🗣️ Black people who don’t listen to country music ( pre Beyoncé) getting on my damn nerves saying country music came from, started with black people. I’m a country music fan, and have been a fan since childhood. Us black people who love country music been knowing that it came from us. I’m from Texas and out of all the people that I know (family included), I am the only person who listens to country music and wear my boots faithfully. The point of me saying that is to say, just because you are from Texas doesn’t mean you’re country; a lot of the white singers in country aren’t country either but they loved the genre. Rissi Palmer, one of the best country music artists that I know, wasn’t really accepted in country because she is black; her singing voice is better than Carrie Underwood. Rissi is happy that Bey is doing country because it opens up doors that she has been trying to open. However, my issue is since Bey is a gatekeeper (one of the biggest artists in the world), why not use your status to help all these black folks whose first passion has always been country and been trying to get it out the mud? It seems to me, she wants all the attention and fame when she would’ve gotten it anyway by coming out and promoting the people that have BEEN in the genre cause once she makes money off this album and bails out, those same black people who only came for her will be leaving right along with her, on to Act 3 while the real black people who love country music will be left in the same damn fight that she has known about for years and wasn’t interested in helping until it benefited her. Lastly, I haven’t heard the 16 Carriages but the Texas Hold’em is nothing that I would listen to. I write music and I know everyone has they’re on taste but in nearly 20 years, I have never not liked a song that has went #1 on country radio. What I will say about the song is because it’s Bey, I can see the black trail riders playing the song and doing the line dance to it😊 It really does feel good when you see and can dance to your own people and share the love of the music. Unfortunately, this isn’t authentic but I would be happy if things really did change because there are so many black country music artist ( that have BEEN putting in the work) continue to have to navigate racism, that really deserve this attention. Beyoncé’s country is a money grab because last month they were promoting that she was a rapper. I bet Act 3 will be rapping Beyoncé then you followers will forget about country and run over to rap. That’s what’s disgusting about this whole thing.

Lots of mainstream artists are switching over to this genre. The money is there now and as into hiphop as I am, a lot of these new artists aren’t that good and it hasn’t been the same. Hiphop isn’t the same. The people who grew up on biggie and Tupac and then went on to the likes of Drake Jcole and Kendrick are disappointed that Ice Spice is at the top of the charts now. It sounds like a very polished" studio"country album, the feel doesn't connect as far as feeling, but audibly protools and auto tune wise, it's sounds very Good, but it doesn't pull at the heart strings like a country classic. The banjo strings are predictable, the stereotypical whistle and line dance foot taps are text book "use this"sample waves, it's giving manufactued country, not the essence of it.
