      True. And they only have 3 years to claim the refund or lose it to the US Government. 2018 refunds go bye-bye on 4/15/22 so we should all keep that in mind. Thanks for watching and commenting! 😁

    The video did not mention where the taxes can be filed, for example if someone wanted to e-file 2020 taxes where would they file?

    • @WilsonRogersCompanyInc
      @WilsonRogersCompanyInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, that depends on if it is a year that can be e-filed. And that comes down to how is filing (you or a professional) and if you're within the 3 year window to file. Us professionals can e-file 2020 but you might not be able to if your software doesn't allow it.
      If you can't e-file you will need to mail it and we talk about that in this video: th-cam.com/video/q3WPQ2pcayI/w-d-xo.html It discusses how to look up the address and where to send it as well (see timestamps in description of the video).

    • @WilsonRogersCompanyInc
      @WilsonRogersCompanyInc  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most certainly. That’s how we prepare old returns when people don’t have the original docs.
      You just might not be able to prepare an accurate state return because you won’t have the state taxes withheld on the W2.
      But with the transcripts, you’ll know who you worked for. So…you can request replacement W2s from them so you can prepare state if desired.

    • @WilsonRogersCompanyInc
      @WilsonRogersCompanyInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So, the transcript you have is called "redacted" and it's so people don't do identity theft - they can't see your SSN or any EINs. IF you are trying to e-file a current year return, then you need unredacted. Check out this link on the IRS site and look at the section "Faxing and third-party mailings" as that talks about how to use Form 4506-T to get those: www.irs.gov/individuals/about-the-new-tax-transcript-faqs
      Now, if you are filing an old return (in this case 2019 or older) then you don't need the EIN if YOU are preparing the returns. The returns can't be e-filed so you would have to mail them in to the IRS anyway. They can see who you worked for as they have the same transcript but unredacted.
      The EIN is only needed if you're going to e-file and that is only available to the last 3 years for tax professionals and the current year (TY 2020) if you're using individual software. Hope this helps. Thanks for the comment and watching! 😁

    • @WilsonRogersCompanyInc
      @WilsonRogersCompanyInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      DON’T BE SCURRED! 🤣 The possibility of there being a penalty? 100% The probability? 🤷🏾‍♂️ While I don't work for the IRS, you have to think there is some slack built into the system. While it was midnight in NY it was still 8PM in CA. So...
      They might not penalize you for filing or paying late. But if they do: 1) it was only by one day so the penalties for paying late would be minimal and 2) you can always request that they forgive (abate) the penalties by replying to the letter. You can learn more about penalties from our blog post: fileoldtaxreturns.com/2015/05/10/understanding-irs-penalties/
      Congrats on getting filed and Happy Belated Tax Day! 😁😉

    If I have no paperwork to file for 2018, is the wages transcript what I need to complete this?

    • @WilsonRogersCompanyInc
      @WilsonRogersCompanyInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment. To get missing records, you would want to get a 2018 Wage & Income Transcript from the IRS. It will show you who paid you money (income, interest, dividends, etc) so that you can file your return.
      It won’t have state level income and withholdings, but you will know who paid you and you can reach out to them for replacement forms if you need to file the state return.
      Our video will tell you how to create an online IRS account and get your transcripts in under 15 minutes (if all goes well with the identity verification step): th-cam.com/video/40I9A4jeuYA/w-d-xo.html
      Hope that helps! 😉

    I finished my taxes with Taxact, however I cannot e-file for 2019. What is the quickest way to do so? Is mail my only option?

    • @WilsonRogersCompanyInc
      @WilsonRogersCompanyInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and the comment. The quickest way to e-file is to use a professional that can do so. We mention our service in the description of the video, and yes, we can file 2019.
      Other than that, your next option is to mail it. We talk about how to do that in our video: th-cam.com/video/q3WPQ2pcayI/w-d-xo.html
      But be advised that mail is REALLY messed up at the IRS now. So even if sent, it will be weeks (realistically months) for them to process it as they have some 9 million unprocessed mail returns from 2020-2021.
      Hope that helps! 😁👍🏾

    • @WilsonRogersCompanyInc

      If you're doing the filing then yes, you would have to mail it. This video talks about that: th-cam.com/video/q3WPQ2pcayI/w-d-xo.html
      If we're doing it, we can e-file 2020. This video talks about the options for e-filing: th-cam.com/video/XLEFJAej_UE/w-d-xo.html
      So if you're doing it then yes, you would have to complete the return and then mail it to the IRS. Thanks for watching and the comment! 😁

    • @WilsonRogersCompanyInc
      @WilsonRogersCompanyInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check out this IRS site www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/prior-year and look at the Popular Prior Year Forms, Instructions & Publications section. 2018 is listed and you would need Form 1040. Would have to be done by hand which is a pain. If you want a service to do it, then you can check out ours: fileoldtaxreturns.com/ Good luck! 😉

      You can always request it. But if a return was not filed the transcript will just state “no tax return filed” so not sure how useful that is. Unless you need proof that you did not file! 😉. Hope that helps.

    Forgive me if this question was previously answered in the video. And this is in regards to my 2020 Taxes. Yes, I am ashamed 🥲
    So, I used Tax Slayer to help aid me in coming to terms with what Taxes I owe and will receive. As expected, I cannot e-file, but I received a sum no less. The only deductions I have seen, after submitting my W-2, are the State taxes that I owe.
    The question: is this the extent of what I owe or is there something that I am missing? Do I need to look further to determine if I do or do not owe any late penalties?

    • @RogueAngel97
      @RogueAngel97 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know if this help, but I have received the following notification:
      In accordance with the Presidential Memorandum issued on August 8, 2020, Social Security taxes were not withheld from your pay between September 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020. The deferred Social Security taxes have since been collected from your pay between January 2021 and December 2021.
      Tax Filing and W-2C Reporting:
      As a result of the OASDI taxes deferred in 2020, corrected W-2s (W-2Cs) are required for tax year 2020 correcting Box 4 to report the additional Social Security Tax withheld from your pay.
      Thank you for your time. I know I've sent you a Novel.

    • @WilsonRogersCompanyInc

      Okay so it's a little hard to understand what is actually going on. But we'll say this; once the return is filed if there was an amount owed, you will get a letter from the IRS indicating the amount owed plus any penalties and interest. So...we say just wait for the letter from the IRS after they receive and process the return.
      If there was a refund due, then there are no penalties and interest for filing late. Hope this helps!

    My return was flagged in 2020. When i tried to get it taken care of, the pandemic made it impossible. So i havent even tried to file a income tax return since. I know i wont get paid for 2020. But will i still get a refund for 2021 2022 & 2023? I have the wage & income transcripts for all of those years. Thanks

    • @WilsonRogersCompanyInc
      @WilsonRogersCompanyInc  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you file before the deadline (3 years from original due date), are owed a refund, and don’t have any outstanding Federal or government entity debt, then they should issue the refund.
      2021-2023 are still active years to claim refunds as of today. 2020 is a lost year unfortunately.
      Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and the comment! 😁
