Liz McConaghy deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan with the RAF as a chinook helicopter crewman. She regularly witnessed death and trauma while picking up seriously injured soldiers from the battlefield as part of the Medical Emergency Response Team or MERT.
Liz’s first brush with death came when her helicopter struck some overhead wires. Years later she would face it again in her own home.

As a retired Police Officer I dealt with many suicides and each one was a story in itself, and always left me with a feeling of great sadness for the victim and the families left behind. Liz is an amazing woman and deserves a happy and fruiful life after her service to this country. A very inspiring woman, I send her my best wishes for the future ... god bless you Liz ...

Poor woman, my heart goes out to her , life is tough but once you come out the other side after something like that it makes you a stronger person. A positive mindset will get you through anything. Glad you made it Liz

The courage this woman has to talk about her experiences I applaud it 👏, talking about su1c1de is never easy. I'm relieved that she is in a better space.
