- This video highlights the differences between Czech Super Duo (Super-Duo) beads and Preciosa Twin Beads (also manufactured in the Czech Republic). See some of the differences up close so that you can decide which two hole beads you will choose to use in your next project!

Thanks! I was wondering if they were the same and you covered it. Well done!
The hot colors of the SuperDuos are currently available in our Fort Myers store, but will be coming to the retail website fairly soon. Overall, the colors of the SuperDuos are better than the colors of the twin beads (with the exception of some of the after-market twin coatings)
The super duo bead is so much smaller than I thought. Do they come in different sizes?
No just the one size 5x2.5mm
I like that bracelet with the mixture of tilas, seed beads, bugles and either superdos or twins, is there a video on that one ???
Glad that you liked it. You can check video tutorials using these kind of beads here: www.potomacbeads.com/Videos-Sorted-by-Beads-s/5129.htm
@@Potomacbeadco can not find it !! I think I can figure it out but wondering what size is the bugle used .
where is the tutorial for the super duo rounded bracelet?
Just posted the link as a video response, if that is the one you are looking for
No we never actually finished it or named it, so it is in the 'to finish' pile!
Good work I like
The Twin Beads are made in the same process as seed beads. There is no way they will ever be consistent in size/shape. The Super Duos are pressed beads. They are molded so will be consistent. The Twins are cheaper because of the manufacturing process. The Super Duos are available in ANY color that the Czechs manufacture. The Twins are based on crystal and black base with coatings only.
They are extruded and cut when the glass is hot.
They are extruded and then as they roll along the trough towards the cutter they cool. When they get to the end of the trough they are cool enough to be "cut" into meter long lengths. They are not cut while the glass is too hot. The thin canes then go thru an outer diameter sizing process. Then after the cane is sorted by size it is then fed into "choppers" that will cut them into the specific sizes required such as for rocailles or bugle beads. Then they go thru the tumbling process to smooth out the sharp edges. This is what makes the classic donut shape of a Czech rocaille. Then they go thru several quality control processes to check for things such as roundness and to verify that there are holes etc. I have seen all of these steps and more.
Where do yo find the hot colors? All I can find are dull boring colors! Helppppppppppp Also, some patterens in English would be great!
The most notable difference in these beads was not mentioned. The hole placement is not symmetrical and one side is thinner than the other. For this reason, they did not work for the most simple design, a single row of two hole beads, which had a bigger impact in design choice than the color ways they come in. Another comment mentioned the manufacturing process and I guess that is why they're so different.
Thank you so much for adding this information.
Please never use those neon beads unless you've got a time machine that landed in 1982
The 80s definitely was the era of neon! Thank you for watching!
